Greek singer Iris Mavraki was born in Zaire (Africa) from a Greek father and Austrian mother. Since her early childhood she travelled around the world and in the early 60's she settled on the island of Rhodes in Greece. She studied classical piano at the National Conservatoire and Hellenic Conservatoire in Rhodes and she took singing lessons. She was also a member of the Municipal Choir of Rhodes.
These years and her early voyages influenced Iris in a multicultural way. She started singing professionally.
In 1981 she met with Nick Mason and David Gilmour of PINK FLOYD, at their Britannia Row studios in London for an audition. The invitation came after previously having heard a demo tape of Iris.
An independent, self-styled artist, Iris has been on stage in Greece with well-known Greek artists, in Israel (with the support of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel) and Turkey. She has organized and participated in numerous:

for the reforestation of burnt forests on Rhodes and Environment.
Iris is responsible for organizing and doing public relations for the Biennale "Rhodes International Cartoon Exhibition", held by the Prefecture of the Dodecanese and the Municipality of Rhodes (in 2002, 2004, and 2006).
Iris Mavraki's latest projects include:
- Concert for the Greek Presidency and the Foreign Ministers of the EU Countries on the island of Kastellorizo, Greece.
- A series of concerts in Greek primary schools about the environment.
- A singing appearance in the film "Beyond Friendship", directed by Ellie Shouraqui and filmed in Rhodes.
- Series of concerts (Symphony Orchestra from Turkey and Greek musicians) dedicated to Greek & Turkish Composers and poets, aimed at building a bridge of friendship between Turkey and Greece. Through art and music by focusing on Greek and Turkish Composers and Poets, in both languages.
• With the Symphony Orchestra "DESO" of Dokuz Eylül University of Izmir, conducted by Ibrahim Yazici (Izmir, Turkey - March 2005) at the Sabanci Kultur Sarai Theatre.
• National Theatre of Rhodes (Greece, April 2005).
• The opening of the Güzelyal-- Cultural Centre z(Izmir-Turkey, November 2005).
• With the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ender Sakpinar at the Ismet Inonu Theatre (Izmir, Turkey - December 2005).
• With the ESKISEHIR Greater Municipality SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA for the opening ceremony of the Bodrum International Film festival in the theatre of the Medieval Castle (Turkey - June 2005).
• Theatre of Mugla University under the auspice of Mugla University (Turkey, June 2006).
• Eskisehir Theatre under the auspice of Eskisehir Greater Municipality (Turkey - June 2006)
• Theatre of the Medieval Moat in Rhodes (Greece - June 2006), prefecture of Dodecanese, Municipality of Rhodes.

Discography:
Iris has recently recorded an album with DREAMTONE, a young and promising progressive-power metal band from Ankara. The project of their collaboration is named NEVERLAND and the album title "REVERSING TIME". The album features the Istanbul Philarmonia Orchestra, and highly acclaimed guest artists such as Hansi Kursch (BLIND GUARDIAN), Mike Baker (SHADOW GALLERY), Gary Wehrkamp (SHADOW GALLERY) and Tom Englund (EVERGREY). "REVERSING TIME" is expected to be released soon.
