About Me

»-(¯..v..¯)-» Design your MySpace with MyLook «-(¯..v..¯)-«======================================= Below are a few of the many my Father painted! *** Please visit www.johnmatlockartwork.com thank you! *** ================================================"Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." - Henry Ward Beecher ~~~John Matlock is professional artist like his father before him. Growing up John watched and studied his father Thomas paint landscapes in oil mediums in their basement studio in West Springfield Massachusetts. 35 years later John now paints in the same studio with the same easel applying the lessons he learned from his Father using acrylic mediums in place of oils.John studied art at Holyoke Community College and the University of Massachusetts concentrating in painting. He has sold works across the country at juried outdoor art festivals but stays based mostly in New England. His paintings of Old country barns and places long forgotten have best been described as lonely and some times melancholy, and yet they invoke a feeling of nostalgiac Americana at the same time. As a native son of Massachusetts I guess you could say it’s in his blood. John also dabbles in the subject matter of marine life creating an underwater environment that helps take you away from the things of man. All of John's work can be seen on his website at www.johnmatlockartwork.comJohn is also a member of the talented Visual Merchandising team of Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield Massachusetts. The job allows John an alternate avenue for a creative outlet, and he has been with the team for 10 years.================================================ ================================================ As I paint new pieces I will update them on my personal website ~ www.johnmatlockartwork.com ~ with sizes and price, not including shipping. All finished works are signed, framed under glass and ready to hang. I also will do commission works; the price may vary depending on the size and request. My artwork is currently on display at Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield Ma. Exit 24 off of Rt.91 North, and exit 25 off Rt.91 South. Thank you for stopping in.=======================================Thank you for visiting. ~ John Matlock.
