Gotta Get Away, Get Away, Holy Diver...

About Me

Hello everyone, this is Ronnie James Dio! I'm sure many of you know me from the band 'Dio' with hits such as "Rainbow In The Dark", or "Holy Diver". I was also in Black Sabbath for awhile, and was the vocalist in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. I've always been into Rock N' Roll since I was a teen. I used to sing in church choir, that's where it all started. My first band was Elf. We went through many names, such as the Electric Elves and The Elves, but we finally stuck with Elf. That's where everything started for me and the music biz. We all decided it wasn't going anywhere and decided to disband in 75'. I got a call from Ritchie Blackmore(former Deep Purple guitarist), and he wanted to know if I would do the vocals for his band, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow". Of course, I said yes. We made many classic albums together, such as 'Long Live Rock N' Roll' and 'Rising'. But at the time, Ozzy had just gotten kicked out of Black Sabbath. I joined Sabbath in June, 1979. In 80', 'Heaven and Hell' was released, and it was a huge success! I was even shocked by how many copies we sold. It was a great career move for me to join Sabbath. Me and Vinny Appice both left Sabbath to start a new band, Dio. We teamed up with guitarist Vivian Campbell and Jimmy Bain to make 'Holy Diver', one of the most critically claimed best heavy metal albums of all time. My personal favorite track is "Don't Talk To Strangers", but it never really got it's 15 minutes of fame on MTV. On the other hand, "Holy Diver" and "Rainbow In The Dark" were HUGE successes! At this point, Dio were already a huge success, but I didn't know what I had coming. In 84', we released 'The Last In Line'. Claude Schnell had generously done the keyboards for us, which was very kind of him. Then in 85', 'Sacred Heart' was released, and sadly the last record Vivian did with Dio. It was sadly the last cd to contain the original line up, and wasn't too big with the credits. I basically sold out(Yes, I'll admit it) with "Rock N' Roll Children", and lost alot of my status. But hopefully, I have rebuilt it and still am the creator of lml. Leave me a comment if you please, I do promise sincerely to comment you back!Sincerely, Ronnie James Dio

My Interests

Metal, touring with Dio, fishing, anything goes.

I'd like to meet:

From being in Rainbow, to Sabbath, to Dio, I've met basically everyone I've wanted to meet, such as Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne, Ian Gillan, and more.

Music:

Any sort of music is fine with me, I'm into everything. From Jethro Tull to Anthrax, I'm a fan of all music, all is good to my ear.

Heroes:

One of my biggest heroes was Ian Gillan. His voice was so tremendously amazing! I also admire my ex/current band members for Dio, they're all an inspiration to me.
