I'm the kid in the bumper car going in circles way in the back corner. A movie quoting music snob. I won't tell you your taste in music is inferior to mine or de-friend you if you list Nickleback, Hinder, or Yellowcard as one of your favorite bands...just don't tell me your favorite band is Greenday and you haven't the slightest who The Clash or Stiff Little Fingers are. Love me. Loath me. Whatever. I know that I'm not supposed to judge anyone but when I enter a new apartment I scan the room for the things that are obviously left out for me to see. I know that you leave these easter eggs out for me, but I will probe even deeper, often looking at bookcases to see how many Noam Chomsky books you've bought but haven't read, which magazines you've left on the coffee table/bathroom rack, and have a quick glance at your cd rack. I know it seems awful, but I am a firm believer that we are what we like. And if we like certain things, we allow that to encapsulate us. And if we are judged by who we are/character, we should also, in turn, be judged by what we like and dislike. You may disagree with everything I've just written, but deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you know that I'm right.
Want to know more? On a good day, my personality is a mixture between Clementine and Sam (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Garden State). Recently I've become more girly than I have ever been in my life and I'm actually rather enjoying it. Who would've thought? I am OBSESSED with MAC makeup and often find refuge in that store. I go to Warped Tour just about every year and I love almost any type of music with the exception of Country (there are certain exceptions)and Death Metal (there are no exceptions). I like movies a whole lot, I love people, I love talking to people. I like making fun of people. I love grammar. I love NPR. I have the best friends in the entire world and it sucks that we're scattered (NYC, Korea, FL, and wherever Lauren is laying her head down these days). Someday we will reunite...until then...there is always myspace. A poor substitution, I know. But what can you do? Someday I'm going to make a documentary film on Jersey bands and why they're so amazing, until then, I'll just keep going to shows and resort to simply standing in awe.
