About Me

Heavily influenced by such classic rock legends as Neil Young, Todd Rundgren, Stephen Stills, Jackson Browne, Steely Dan, and Van Morrison as well as lesser-known heroes like Jay Farrar, Willis Alan Ramsey, and Colin Blunstone, 26 year old Texas native Barton Stanley David has a sound that is truly unique. With a flair for picturesque, reflective material, Barton combines a melodic, alternate-tuned guitar style with distinctive vocals and intricate songwriting to create a musical intensity that will strike a chord with even the most casual listener. Immersed in music since infancy (his parents are said to have stationed a radio next to the baby boy's crib), Barton spent much of his childhood studying the origins of rock and roll through an extensive record collection that belonged to his father. A bit precocious, Barton obsessed over the likes of Aaron Copland and experimental Prog Rock outfit Nektar at age 11, and learned the French Horn and Alto Saxophone before picking up a guitar for the first time at age 14. After high school, he traded his hometown of Dallas for the live music capital of the world in Austin, TX, where he graduated from college and began to pursue music full time shortly thereafter.
