I'm sick of people bitching about TV in this section. Yes it's true that the average person watches too much of it. And yes it's true that there are too many stupid reality shows on these days. Yet, it's also true (in my humble opinion) that this is an exciting era for television. There plenty of quality shows on these days; a surprising number of which are on broadcast networks. If you choose not to watch, fine, but don't act like there is nothing worth watching out there.
Writers I enjoy include (but are hardly limited to): Paul Auster, Charles Bukowski, Michael Chabon, Harry Crews, Philip Jose Farmer, Ernest Hemingway, Patricia Highsmith, John Irving, Elmore Leonard, Larry McMurtry, Dorothy Parker, Richard Price, John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Charles Willeford. Oh and Pauline Kael.
