About Me

Baqua is a project/band who's aim is to blend sample based electronica and cutting edge dance music production with a strong emphasis on organic instrumentation, emotive vocals and live performance. A large catalogue of influences ranging from broken beat, hip hop, and rare groove to contemporary jazz improvisation and world music allows the Baqua sound to constantly evolve. Baqua is a collaboration between James Millman and vocalist Della. James first came to attention as guitarist, keyboard player and programmer with Bluprint (on London based Exceptional Records) having released two well received albums and eps, licensing tracks to 7 chillout compilations. Della, featured on the second Bluprint album, is a professional freelance vocalist with a versatile, pragmatic approach to music and a soulful sultry vocal style. Both have expansive live and studio experience including perfomances at the Jazz Cafe, Notting Hill Arts Centre and The Social in addition to countless venues around and outside the UK.
