About Me

Hello beings of the world (or indeed other planets?!!) and welcome to our space in cyberspace that is the Severe:Zero myspace!! A trio of three likely lads from the green and pleasant land of Devon. Hidden away in the countryside, Luke’s Big Green door recording studio has been the nerve centre of our operations since spring 2005. Here we’ve been working tirelessly to assemble a battery of tunes ‘Soooo good I fear for your safety!’ (Sean@Pressplay). Plus we’ve also been honing our skills at Sega bass fishing on the Dreamcast!
Last year saw us begin to venture out of the westcountry in Gelb’s old VW van to play some pastures new (London, Brighton etc). Closer to home, one of the highlights would have to be playing the Goldcoast Oceanfest last summer. Following this, the lovely Kris from the Extreme sports channel invited us to do a live video session for a new program ‘Ex-tube’. Our pretty mugs have now been broadcast around the country (and France and Poland!) and you can see a couple of the videos below.
So from our musical endeavors last year, we’ve been to some new places and made some new friends. We’re now very pleased to announce that the kick ass Manillia PR and the mighty Edge Legal have joined forces with us. With such formidable comrades, we are looking forward to a most prosperous new year of musical crusades. Our album ‘Dead Air’ is currently being revamped with some fresh material and will be formally released later in the year following a couple of singles and a video.
If you’ve stumbled across this site and like our sonic creations, please drop us a line and let us know what you think. We like to hear from new people, especially people with lots of money that will offer us sports cars and cigars!:) On a serious note, we’d like to thank everyone that has supported us thus far whether it be at gigs, online or just emotionally. We’ve had a great time doing what we’ve been doing and are now focusing on moving things to the next level. Come join us as we soldier on like never tiring Duracell bunnies into the craziness that is rock n roll! Here's what some music cats have been saying about 'Weapons Grade'. Thank you for visiting and be well.
---------------------------------------
‘Gutsy, punky power trio Severe Zero's new single leaves the safety catch off on Weapons Grade. No time for warnings on this frontal assault in under four minutes.’ - County Times
---------------------------------------
‘Sprightly Post-Hardcore with hooks to die for, that primal scream and jagged chords keep you holding on by your fingernails, one's to keep an eye out for!’ - Subba-Culture .
---------------------------------------
‘..this has it all. Crashing tumults of drums rise and fall and guitars dance around with urgency. This is quite exhilarating listening. This is an interesting little single and if this is just an appetiser for a feast of an album, we'll look forward to stuffing our faces.’ – Kate Sharp, Room Thirteen
---------------------------------------
‘Severe Zero don't fuck around they play hard and they play fast, the band pound the shit out of their instruments whilst still managing to throw in a bouncy hook or two and a melodic middle section. Weapons Grade is an energetic and andrenaline fuelled masterclass in modern day punk, forget your Blink 182's and think more of the likes of Refused, this is short, sharp and full of balls, if you like razor sharp, straight to the point punk you're gonna love Severe Grade. Rhythm & Booze Rating 10.’ – Will Munn, Rhythm and Booze
---------------------------------------
‘I thought post-hardcore of this nature (polished, layered, tidy) had taken the last train home but Devon trio SEVERE:ZERO are here to inject some fresh fizz into the bloodstream. ‘WeaponsGrade’ is a good alt. rock single with all the right jagged dynamics,..the band have a solid grasp of what it takes to make dependable and modern rock’n’roll.’ - 247 Magazine
---------------------------------------
‘Severe Zero show great punkish attitude and more than adequate rockin' aggression with this shit-hot single, 'Weapons Grade'. Severe Zero are just a three-piece and considering their number they make a pretty big, solid and impressive melodic 'noise'. 'Weapons Grade' is a crackin' single that presses all the right buttons normally associated with this high energy genre. And, talking of energy, Severe Zero exude a level of energy here that's almost tangible!! 'Weapons Grade' by the punchy and bright Severe Zero is everything it should be and more - a great little single with instant appeal, loads goin' on and a real worker'. – Toxic Pete
---------------------------------------
‘Beneath the superficial, up my own arse first impression I had, I was blitzed with catchy, snappy riffs, gutsy vocals and a real sense of musical articulation amongst the three members that makes this supremely enjoyable. To be blunt I rate Severe Zero…they are refreshing and, dare I say it, in inverted commas "original". Every key and tempo change seems to have been well thought over and benefit the song, giving it direction, urgency and purpose which if they maintain could make them a phenomenal live act. Severe Zero, you surprised me and endeared me and for that I thank you’. - Chris Sharpe, Tasty Fanzine.
---------------------------------------
‘No beating about the bush with these dudes. Severe:Zero are a Devon based trio who it seems have a devilish knack of nailing down punk styled pogoing nuggets at the drop of an hat....this unrelenting razor sharp power charged cutie is awash with tear arsing guitars, staggered stop start dynamics and an anthem styled presence replete with a chorus hook that - once heard - insidiously pings around the headspace like a demented pinball’ - Losing Today
