THE BREAKS COLLECTIVE

The Breaks started as a collective of musicians from North Devon who all had there own musical outlets but happened to get together in early 2005 with the idea of having a jam. Soon a gig was organized and the Breaks were born. In the early gigs there was a lot of improvisation and through those times they realised that something good was brewing.
Roll on 2008 and the Breaks are now a tight 6 piece Hip Hop band that get the crowd rocking by deliver a great live performance. They have in the past released a couple of E.P.'s, Short Guy Long Trousers and Broken, and on the 29th november they are releasing the long-awaited full feature length album entitled, Finally. They also continue to record live shows which often appear on this site and You Tube under the SouthWestCollective (check it out)
Throughout their time together they have built up a strong local following and have been fortunate enough to support Toots and the Maytals. Jazz legend Courtney Pine, Mercury Music Nominee Soweto Kinch, the Pharcyde, the Scratch Perverts, Ursula Rucker, London Elektricity, the Freestylers, DJ Format, Ed Motta, Gilles Peterson. Jungle Drummer & DJ Fu. Furthermore they were warmly received playing Twice at Europe's premier extreme sports festival Goldcoast Oceanfest as well as the Fat Face Night Air World freestyle Mountain Board championships...
