It has been just over a year since "The Bloodpoets" entered the scene with their debut EP release "Fire In Erlangen". This was the beginning of a terrific year for singer guitarist Tom Murphy, Paul Craig (lead guitar/ backing vocals), Felix Merry (Bass), and Todd Orchard (Drums), as the EP was received to rave reviews and critical acclaim.Being rated 4/5 by Time Off magazine and 8/10 from Tsunami Magazine, both proclaiming the bands outstanding contribution to quality powerpop. Most noted in the reviews and by their fans alike, is the bands approach to diversity of music, not adhering to a specific genre, and maintaining intense live shows due to their unpredictable song choices. The Bloodpoets also received international attention by winning an LA Music Award and also a Germany Indie music award for "Coronation on the Wall" and "Flow" respectively. From this point, the band secured higher profiled shows supporting Bluejuice, The Angels, and playing Valley Fiesta along side of Silversun Pickups, Butterfingers and Youth Group. Also, previously supporting The Whitlams, The Waifs, The Butterfly Effect, and mainstage at this years Arts Queensland produced "Turbot Street Party" while also committing to their first East Coast tour, performing over 20 dates in a 6 week stretch.Having performed heavily and received both commercial radio attention on Sea FM radio, and indie radio attention on Triple J and being listed in the top 20 albums for both June and July on 4zzz, the band have now begun work on their new album that is approaching it's release in 2008 as a hugely anticipated follow up to the success of Fire In Erlangen.
