We started the label because we were fed up of the manufactured crap the majors put out. Unlike most labels we work in partnership with artists and don't give advances, go to the bank of EMI for that.
Mi5 Recordings UK started in 2001 importing the US released album for Jesus Jones from Mi5 Recordings in New York.
This led to providing the merchandise for Jesus Jones and then in 2002 releasing 2 singles through the Jesus Jones shop under the label Mi5 Recordings UK. In July 2003 we moved into Houldsworth Mill Business & Arts Centre in Stockport, UK.
We then started to look for a new band to release this came in the form of Liverpool band Riley, which we took on a short New York state tour in October 2003 and release the Sit Up EP in February 2004 through Cargo distribution.
This was followed by the long awaited Culture Vulture EP from Jesus Jones. Later that year we moved over to Universal distribution and released Greenwich rock band The Southern Electrics album and a Rhythm & Blues album Roll the Dice from Big Town Playboys featuring Robert Plant, Jools Holland and Jeff Beck.
The first single for The Southern Electrics was released in April followed by their second single in December 2005.
In the June we released Maxim from The Prodigy's second solo album and single.
Since then we have moved office into Liverpool Digital and are working with Pariah State Ltd who provide Music Download Websites and Artist Services.
The Southern Electrics are currently completing their second studio album.
cheers
