re Modern is a Post Punk/New Wave/Indie
Alternative rock band that combines memorable guitar riffs,
intense melodies, and dark punchy bass lines coupled with
fiercely calculated and dynamic percussion. The angst ridden,
passionate lyrics, sung through deep hypnotic vocals
only compliment and shape the dark and melodic signature sound.
The band name re Modern came about one day while sitting around talking.
We were all taking a stab at trying to figure out what kind of music
it was exactly that we were writing. With it's vintage influences
and it's modern tones, we realized we were really reModernizing
the sounds of alternative rock while pushing New Wave into to a new era.
And since that day we have been known as re Modern
The project was born in Late 2004 When Bassist "Julio Ibarra"
and Guitarist "Andy Aguirre" began to songwrite.
using a vacant room, behind a bakery located on the Southside of Chicago
They began to record and document every song and idea they would create.
It was only a short time before their search for bandmates began.
In early 2005 It was decided that a vocalist was the priority
Later that year, after quite a few interesting, rare, and even scary auditions
the two stumbled upon a North-West sider, Vocalist "George Pinto"
The lyrics instantly deciphered what the music had been trying to say
It was an instant match, and there was no need to search further
Weeks after the addition of George, a close High School friend of Andy's
Guitarist "Francisco Paniagua" also joined the lineup. After about a year
following the progress of the band and even contributing song ideas,
It just made perfect sense to make him a permanent member.
That vacant room later referred to by the band as "The bakery"
would eventualy become the band's rehearsal space

"Looking back...All of the frequent visits by old and new friends,
auditioning of new musicians, and even the late night song writing
and recording sessions were conducive to great creativity..
and gave birth to much of reModern's early music."
exclaims Vocalist George Pinto.
At first the band had experimented by performing a few shows using
pre-programmed drum tracks in place of a real drummer.
It was very soon that they realized the music was lacking a certain energy,
a void that could only be filled with the sound from an acoustic drumset.
And thus began our search for the drummer.
After about a year or more of constant changes between drummers,
Trying to find a balance between chemistry, talent, and dedication
was not an easy task... "We were thrilled and relieved When we finally
found him, we could stop searching and start writing music again"
Claims Julio Ibarra. In the Winter of 2006, long time friend
Drummer "John Munoz" joined the band. But being the newest addition
did not make him shy. He picked up the sticks and got straight to work.
Within weeks! The band had progressed more quickly than it had,
in all it's years combined.
With that said and done, the band decided to not waste any time at all.
They jumped right into the recording studio to record
and plan the independent release of their first disc "reModern The EP"
Which featured 5 new tracks. Up until now the band has been
putting the finishing touches on the soon to follow
Full length album which is planned to be launched some time in 2008.
Since then, the band has continued to grow, write,
and impact The local Chicago scene.
All else has just been history in the making.......
