~*~ Rose Mont is emerging through her art. She has painted on anything that she could get her hands on as far back as she can remember. "Growing up" in the late 60's she was part of the peace and flower child movement.. You will hear her famous quote if you would ever meet her, "But we had a cause back then".. truly believing in the ~Make Love Not War Movement~ having many of her close friends either wounded or killed in the Viet Nam war. She can be very outspoken in her beliefs, has been told many times that she is very sassy ..and even cyncial at times ~ therefore misunderstood often. She has always believed that "anything can become a canvas" - Using acrylics and mixed mediums - you will find her style forever changing, just as she is, in this season of her life. She paints on furniture, wood, antique window panes, found wood (which she feels holds the character that we all should possess); and even on the walls inside of homes .. With no professional schooling or training, she has a unique style and yet struggles with the fact that it is ok to be different.
She has exhibited her work in the Destin area at Pats Porch and the Blackberry Crow ... Living only miles from the Gulf of Mexico - with its emerald green waters and sugar white sands.... ..this paradise that she and her husband calls home continually inspires them in all that they do. When she is not painting; you can find her at the beach, relaxing on their deck or leisurely strolling through the art and market shops. She enjoys a glass of wine and firmly believes that happiness is always found along the way; because it isn't about the destination, but the journey.
