DJ/Lyricist Sambarella's turntable love affair began in 1997, as learned to Dj in the studios of NY's WEOS 89.7 FM. Until 2000, she produced and hosted, "Cybertraxx," a show dedicated to electronic music. Sambarella went on to become the WEOS's Music Director, organized raves, interviewed artists and rated music for CMJ magazine. More than a decade in the scene, Sambarella has been holding it down as a versatile and skilled DJ with performances at: Club Blvd, Crash Mansion, Luna Lounge, Bar 169, Club Demerara, the Fat Black Pussy Cat & Fuego– New York City (US), Groove – Roma (IT), Deep & Palacio Gaviria – Madrid (ES), Le Ancien Palais, Bypass & Reve d'O – Geneva (CH).
A native of El Salvador, Sambarella's connection to latin music was recognized by the New York Post, as she was once voted "Best Latin DJ," during her 6 year residency at La Vuelta Latin Lounge in Queens. She was featured in New York Magazine and LX-TV for the new wave/80s themed Goodytwoshoes NYC parties alongside DJ/Producer David Antonio D'Amato as the Long Island City based DJ Troop, "Gruv Gallery." Sambarella's lyrical prowess and delivery, led her to write and rhyme on the music troop's hit single "Zone 13." Radio Appearances include: WEOS 89.fm (NY), Viva Radio.com, RTHK.com – Hong Kong, La Femenina 105.3fm & Radio Chalatenango 1290 KHZ – El Salvador.
Sambarella's DJ sets flow from house, latin, old school hip hop, new wave, classics, electronic, world and rare grooves. Playing at festivals: Genesis, Gathering of the Vibes & Electrikfest– New York, J-Walk and Draw for a Cure – Jersey City, The Great Charity Spin & The Painters Ball – Long Island City, Lubrication – New York City and Brooklyn Art Blast – Williamsburg. Sambarella is member of Gruv Gallery, working together with DJ/Producer David Antonio D'Amato and Emcee Big Game James. In 2005, the three released The Museum of Modern Sound Series, two albums of original dance music, electronic vibes and melodic hip hop tracks.
When not mixing, Sambarella is a working professional dedicated to improving the labor conditions of workers in Central America. She has used her skills as a DJ to raise funds for: The Robert DiLibero Foundation, The Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, St. Judes Hospital, The Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island and the American Cancer Society. You can catch Sambarella performing in clubs, lounges, private loft parties, corporate functions, fundraisers, fashion/art shows, web radio and warehouse parties in the New York City and abroad.
