Hailing from Queens - New York, Gruv Gallery is a DJ and electronic music troop, fusing a myriad of genres to create ingeniously fresh original music. The inventive duo behind the Gruv, DJ /Producer David D., a.k.a. "D-Gruv" and DJ/lyricist Julia P. a.k.a. "Sambarella" joined forces in 2001, coming together under the names DJ Seneca and Lady Apostrophe. The duo quickly established themselves in the New York City music scene, gaining recognition for their eclectic DJ sets and range, and ability to excite the ears of diverse audiences, whether at a club, lounge, rave, fashion or art show.Shortly after, the duo began exploring ways to enhance their DJ sets with live elements, with the aim to partner electronic grooves with instrumentation and vocals. In 2003 they met Big Game James who began joining the DJs each week, in between sets at their weekly party in Long Island City, dropping free-style rhymes over hip hop instrumentals. With three turntables, two mixers and a microphone, Gruv Gallery was born.The Gruv Gallery collective also incorporates a number of collaborating musicians, artists, dancers, poets and event organizers and promoters.**************************************************

******************About D-Gruv: Long Island City’s own DJ/Producer, D-Gruv, has been described as a “pillar and innovator†in the industry since the mid 1980's. He got his start at age 13, spinning Disco/House, New Wave/Alternative 80’s and freestyle/disco & old school hip hop tracks as part of several successful DJ crews. Since then he’s performed at numerous venues and events throughout the city and beyond, spinning a wide range of genres and sounds,
including original productions and remixes. He’s been featured in Cool in Your Code, Free NYC, the Times Ledger, and was recently highlighted by Time Out New York for a major charity event he put together in March 2007. At that event, he set the unofficial record for NYC’s longest DJ set, spinning for 72 hours straight, playing over 1000 songs with no repeats, and raising
over $20,000 for cancer charities in the process. His DJ specialties range from world beats/deep house/electronic to old school New Wave/hip hop & disco. ************************************************************

***Sambarella: Sambarella was voted “Best Latin DJ†by the New York Post, in 2005. She got her start in 1996 as music director and host of Cybertrax, an electronic music show that aired for 4 years on WEOS 89.7 in NY. She’s gone on to feature at a number of clubs, lounges, raves, fashion and art shows, corporate functions and benefits in New York City, Rome, Madrid, Hamburg and Geneva. Along with D-Gruv, she’s held a long-standing residency at La Vuelta, a premiere latin lounge in the LIC area. Sambarella also performs as lyricist and vocalist for Gruv Gallery. She wrote and features on the music troop’s hit single “Zone 13†which is set to be released in 2008. Her DJ specialties range from house/disco and NewWave/80’s, to funk, brasilian bossa/samba, Latin and rare grooves.****************************************************

****************Big Game James: Big Game James has been holdin' and squeezin' mics since the mid 1990's. A Queens product, by way of Texas, he originally started rhymin’ way back in the way back, as part of several groups including The Godz, Two to the Temple , and Ill Mortalz. He describes his rhyme style as "eclectic harmonious venom" often mixing his "back to basics" hardcore flow with a harmonious sing/song style. Blessed (cursed?) with a decidedly sick sense of humor, Big Game has been known to mention the unmentionable from time to time, which will no doubt delight most and anger some. His love of old school Hip Hop, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and vintage R&B can be easily identified in every rhyme he spits.
