With over 20 years experience as a touring and recording artist, this solid and hard hitting drummer is currently the powerhouse behind the explosive UK metal band HEADSPEED.Born in the infamous midlands of England, Dez Wootton started at a very young age bashing table tops, saucepans and just about anything that came into reach. At the age of 11 his parents finally gave in and bought him his first drum kit (a 4 piece Premier), only atfer first promising to take lessons from a professional drum tutor. After only a handful of lessons with top jazz tutor Graham Nock (awesome name!!) he decided to go it alone and teach himself to become the powerful drummer he is today.Dez played along to Metallica, Iron Maiden and Rush tracks if feeling really adventurous!! He would join his first band CHASER at the age of 13 alongside best friend Connor Emms on guitar. However after a few local club gigs and school concerts, Chaser came to an end and Dez went back to studying drums.Now aged 19 it was time to start auditioning, before long he was offered the job with established hard rockers PRIDE, joining ranks with the awesome song writing partnership of Dave Bickley and Lee Small. With the addition of Connor Emms on lead guitar soon after, the two friends were playing together once again and the band went on to enjoy some success with 2 albums and a single released via Prime Music. Tours with acts such as Thunder, Skin and Little Angels soon followed, and it was at one particular show that Dez was approached by a personal friend of the late great John Bonham who said that Dez's powerful and driving technique was likened only to that of the legendary Led Zeppelin sticksman. being a massive Bonham fan, this was a very precious complement.With the usual differences of opinion, Pride faded away, so Dez, Connor and Lee Small formed the harder edged NATIVE CAIN, they went on to write and record the 'Primitive Soul' album after signing to Pro-Active records who would release the album worldwide. However shortly after, Lee Small decided to leave NC to pursue other projects, with Lee having still to this day one of the greatest voices in rock, this came as quite a blow. With touring needed to support the album the band took the brave decision to carry on with Connor taking over vocal duties, it worked and things progressed. After recieving an offer from Bob Catley (Magnum), Dez took up the drum duties on his Legends European tour 2000.Upon return the lifelong partnership of Emms and Wootton again came into force, and they set about putting together HEADSPEED, bringing Chris Walton and Rich Williams into the fold. The band entered the studio to start work on thier debut album 'Blueprint For Disaster' also finding time to tour with such acts as Anthrax, Testament, Skid Row, Union, Black Label Society and Cradle Of Filth. Headspeed then signed to Copro Records who released 'Blueprint' worldwide. The band have since re-entered the studio to record the follow up with the album 'Reborn', which is now available via thier own Defcon Music label.
