About Me

((((THE SONGS ON HERE ARE JUST A SMALL TASTE OF OUR SOUND AS FAR AS MELLOW MUSIC GOES, BUT WE ARE ALSO WRITING ALOT OF METAL TO JOIN THE MELLOW PARTS.BEAR WITH US BECAUSE WE WILL HAVE VOCALS, KEYBOARDS,DRUMS, AND FULL LENGTH MATERIAL THAT WILL STRETCH THE TIME LENGTHS OF 6-17 MINUTES EASILY AND BE QUITE DYNAMIC AND DIVERSE WITH CREATIVE SOUNDS AND FILLED WITH MANY EMOTIONS. THE METAL PARTS WHEN THERE ARE HEAVIER PARTS WILL BE WRITTEN VERY MELODIC AND BRING ANOTHER DIMENSION TO THE SONGS. SOME OF THE IDEAS YOU HEAR ON THIS PAGE WILL BE USED IN OUR FUTURE FULL LENGTH MATERIAL SO PLEASE BEAR WITH US. WE DONT WANT TO JUST WRITE AN ALBUM, WE WANT TO TRY TO WRITE MASTERPIECES......)))))
IVORY FOREST PT.1
For now Ivory Forest is a band that consists of 2 members Jason and AJ. We are in the process of finding full time members but it is hard to find people that have common tastes, musicianship, and dedication in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area.
We are a PROGRESSIVE METAL band which means we try our best to take our influences from the Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal genre and try and create the most creative, dynamic, and emotional, dark, and meaningful music we can create. We love mellow, meloncholic, and creative sounds but also love brutality, melodic metal, and bang your head in your face metal. We may or not ever write music extremely heavy like some of our death and black metal influences but metal will be apart of the Ivory Forest sound in the future. Technicality is a love of ours also but by no means is it a brain throbbing achievment we set out to do all the time because even simplicity is a amazing advantage. Whatever comes from this band in the future will be top notch, and to the highest degree of of our abilitys as musicians. We will not disappoint but also we cant please everyone so what we write is written to make us happy and if we can please all of you it is a honor to do so. Our music will be raw, emotional, and will always stand out above alot of today's music that can be at times over done, boring, predictable, and bland to the ears. The future of this band can go any way it can because we dont know the future but we know the future of our sound will be quite impressive, and may even inspire some of you as bands like Pink Floyd, Opeth, Dream Theater, Tool, Yes, Camel, Green Carnation, and all the bands we list as influences inspired us. We are flowing with ideas and everyday something new emerges so we have no signs of slowing down for a very long time....
Ivory Forest Pt.2
THE IVORY FOREST HISTORY
Ivory Forest started out as a 2 piece band with Brad Gavin on drums and Jason Weckerle on guitar, vocals, and everything else. After writing a massive amount of ideas and small guitar songs and playing one show together Brad Gavin was dismissed for creative and personal reasons to do what makes himself happy musically and emotionally. Shortly after AJ joined on bass and vocals and started to contribute greatly to the sound of Ivory Forest with is dynamic abilitys to play everything from progressive metal, death metal, blues, to jazz and he is now a full fledged member of the band.
For drummers we are still looking because whatever drummer joins us will have to be pretty dynamic and good to keep up with our musical explorations. The music is never gonna disappoint and will always stand out in the metal and progressive rock genres appealing to a wide audience and pushing to impress and inspire............
---WHAT FANS AND FELLOW BANDS HAD TO SAY---
After listening and digesting your music, I have a wonderful feeling of solitude for some reason, great piece of music to reflect on life with. Do go on and keep a stubborn attitude to archive your goals, you have a wonderful sense of music writing and surely a fantastic album will come out of your efforts. All the best -Tempano- (major influence on Ivory Forest)
I love bands like King Crimson, Tool, Mars Volta, Dream Theater and also there is this awesome band which I really enjoy listening to them because their style is different, innovative and modern...and they don't even settle for that, they change their style song after song...their name is Ivory Forest...I really adore their music and I really think that they simply deserve anything they want.I wish Ivory Forest success which I know they will have and some great new members! cheers Arya -FREE KEYS
Hey Jason, i just listened to your songs and they are sounding very very cool :P I can tell you have put a lot of time and effort into them. 'Lost Without You' has a definate Gilmore influence - i can tell that straight away. Amazing, emotional guitar playing. The same with 'Lament' and 'Endless Winter Cold'. The Acoustic Chamber is beautiful also. I admire your wide range of influences to see a melodic band like yourself with influences like Necrophagist and Liquid Tension Experiement is very cool :P AJ- very nice bass! i am a man of 6 strings too, i have the Yamaha RBX JM2 the John Myung sig model what model is yours? Thanks for reading and making some very cool songs! Bye. -Tom
endless winter cold is a hell of a track...i listen to it everyday.if aliens come take me away right now...it would suck to not have endless cold winter on the 2gb of music which i can listen to for the rest of my life) -Free Keys-

GOT STUCK ON 'LOST WITHOUT YOU'! TOTALLY AGREED WITH WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT CHORDS & SPEED VS. FEEL AND ARRANGEMENTS, ETC., (BUILDING THE COMPLEX AROUND A SIMPLE MELODY, I ESPECIALLY GROOVED TO & RELATED TO THAT THEME!) IT'S CLEAR YOU APPRECIATE THE LIKES OF PINK FLOYD AND THE SKILL OF THE CLASSICAL GENRE, ETC.,) & I REALLY APPRECIATE WHAT YOU DO AND THE TIME AND DEPTH YOU APPARENTLY PUT INTO IT. IT REALLY, REALLY COMES THROUGH! -Awe-Topsy-

I adore "Lost without you", so ethereal, filled with some untimely echo that makes the soul shiver. It wakes some strong almost forgotten emotions! Listening to it I lost myself in some distant past (pleasant or not pleasant, it doesn't make any difference because that is already a part of my inner being), briefly said, you guys managed to make me spill some tears (honestly). And I almost forgot to mention the "lament", the acoustic masterpiece! thanks for the emotions you gave me!Best wishes! -Boban-

JASON WECKERLE- Acoustic/Electric Guitars/ Vocals/Keyboards..............
I started playing guitar 15 years ago at the age of 7 when I first seen the concert video Pink Floyd Pulse. David Gilmour was the first guitarist to strike a true chord with me and get me off to a start and in a direction outside of the normal musical exploration most people take today. And Gilmour still is the God of all guitarists in my opinion, he shows that you don't need to shred to be a kickass guitarist because without emotion music is dead sound. One well played note means more then a 100 arpeggios sweeped up and down the neck. So even at the age of 7 Progressive Rock struck me in a way that no other music has ever been able to. As the years went on I was self taught by playing by ear to bands like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rush, Deep Purple,Rainbow, and Led Zeppelin. Then as I grew older Heavy Metal came into my life in a major way around the age of 12 with Black Sabbath, Tool, Metallica, Pantera, and Slayer so my sound took on a heavier sound. Around the age of 14 I started melting my knowledge and playing on acoustic guitar, my progressive rock influences, and my new tastes in Heavy Metal together and thought I had something fresh and new and revolutionary. But I was wrong, a Swedish band by the name of Opeth came into my life and influenced me in ways only Pink Floyd was able to and my love for progressive rock deepened, and my love for a more extreme style of music was born called Death Metal. Now I am inspired by progressive bands like Dream Theater, Green Carnation, Tool, Porcupine Tree, Camel, King Crimson,Symphony X, Yes, Paatos, early Genesis, and many more bands that are listed as influences. And now Death/Black Metal bands like Opeth, Death, Emperor, Decapitated,Dimmu Borgir, Borknagar, In Flames, and many more quech my thirst for the metal genre as well as many more. Then I got into keyboards a little bit because of my father Mark Weckerle (RIP) who was a great keyboardist when he was still around. He taught me a few chords here and there and now I try to make do with my knowledge ..boards. My major inspirations on the keyboards are Rick Wakeman, Richard Wright, Steven Wilson, and Jordan Rudess. I now strive to write original music while still paying respect to those bands who I grew up being inspired from and I try to write music outside of the normal spectrum so when people hear Ivory Forest they can respect us for our creativity, sound, emotion, and style and hopefully be inspired or get a good feeling from the music. Whether we are called a metal band or just a prog rock band we will always be a progressive band and a progressive thinking band. We may write some albums heavier or mellower then others but anyone who listens to this band has to have a love for mellow and heavy music or else they will never get what we are about. I dont write to impress anyone, I write what impresses me musically and if I dont get a feeling from the music when I record it, none of you will hear it. If it sounds good to your ears then I am honored that I struck a chord with you but once you start writing music to impress everyone but yourself it is no longer a artform of expression and creativity, it is a marketing gimic. My creativity shows no signs of slowing down.......... .....

AJ- Bass Guitars and Vocals...... I've been playing bass guitar for about 5 years and electric guitar for about 3 years. I play everything from Progressive to Death Metal to Jazz, some of my main influences are Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse, Victor Wooten, Geddy Lee of Rush, John Myung of Dream Theater and many many more....
Influences: Pink Floyd, Opeth, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree,Green Carnation, Camel, Rush, Pantera, Tool, King Crimson, Emperor, Santana,Anathema,Genesis(1970-1977), Death, Obituary, Deicide, Riverside,Blotted Science, Black Sabbath, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Shylock, Terpandre,Van Der Graaf Generator, At The Gates, Ayreon, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Isis, (The Beatles), Metallica, Gentle Giant, Into Eternity,Moody Blues, Iced Earth, Evergrey, Symphony X, Emerson Lake and Palmer, A Perfect Circle, Hypocricy, Slayer, Yes(1970s), Necrophagist, Nile, Solaris, Arcturus, Shadows Fall, Entombed, Spock's Beard, Aziola Cry, The Tangent, Paatos, Katatonia, Starless, Mindflow, Liquid Tension Expierement, Cancer, Artcane, Pulsar, Locanda Delle Fate, Gotic. Sörskogen, Canvas Solaris, UnderThreat, Borknagar, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Dio, Stormlord, Jimi Hendrix, Nine Inch Nails, Meshuggah, Mudvayne, Primus, Kill Switch Engage, Shadowsfall, Alice in Chains, Paradise Lost, Labyrinth, Dimmu Borgir, Mindflow, Tempano, Tangerine Dream, Brand X, Decapitated, Suffocation, Cattle Decapitation, Angra, Kansas, The Flower Kings, BloodBath, Amon Duul, BlackField, Peter Frampton, Robin Trower, Cream, Sepultura
Sounds Like: The equivalent of a bunch of good ideas mashed into one unique sound served with a side order of mystery and wonder....
