Viva la Vinal Festival

The THIRD annual "Viva la Vinal Festival" will be held Friday, September 5th from 5-9pm and Saturday, September 6th from 4-9pm at the Somerville Community Growing Center located at 22 Vinal Avenue Somerville, MA (http://www.thegrowingcenter.org/find_us.html). The first year (2006) the festival featured "Frank Smith", "Joy", and "Audrey Ryan & Stephen Brodsky". for a one night only festival. The second year (2007) featured about thirty different performances over two deay including "Atlas Soul", "Brown Bird", "Gretel", "the Speedbumps", "Tony the Bookie", and several others. This year (2008) we are once again holding a two day event, and there will be several performers; musicians, comedians, storytellers. We hope to have food donated by local Union Square businesses as well as potluck style. The Growing Center is a beautiful community place where local people in Somerville grow plants and vegtables and put on events anywhere from independent films to play groups. This festival is open to the public, there is no cover charge, donations only (which go to artists, this is a non-profit event). Also there is no alcohol or profanity allowed because this is a public park and there will be children attending. We request that people coming bring a food and/or beverage offering to share with people.
