About Me

.. ..
What up family!!! Just thought I’d give you a little info about myself.
I’ve been described as a “dynamic producer with a sound of his own.” My interest in hip-hop started at about age five or so when I heard one of my older sisters playing “Rapper’s Delight.”
The combination of the spoken word, rhythm and the “party” feel of the song hooked me instantly and I wasn’t able to let go. That one song shaped me and molded me and I became a true product of hip-hop from my early stages.
My growing interest in hip-hop continued and eventually led me to DJ-ing. What started off as just a hobby, something to make a little extra money at and have fun with became something much larger. “I remember the first record I brought, it was L.L. Cool J’s Radio.” I played that record over and over and still have the original copy, scratches and all!
Eventually, I became one of the most well known DJ’s in St. Louis. It was at this point I decided to try my hand at producing so I joined this group called the Jus Us League with a few college friends. After having mild success with this group throughout the Midwest, we eventually disbanded and went our separate ways.
Still grinding and eager to learn more about music and producing, I was introduced to Jason “Jay E” Epperson, the prolific beat-smith behind Nelly and the St. Lunatics through a mutual friend. We developed an instant friendship and had a lot in common due to our love of rap music and DJ-ing. Jason is the person that taught me most of my studio techniques and helped me to develop my own style further.
Shortly after, I moved to New York and through hard work and perseverance I established a relationship with legendary DJ and one of the most important people in hip-hop, Chuck Chillout. He showed me the “in’s and out’s” of hip-hop; the birth place, where it all started. I took everything that I could from Chuck and continued to develop my style. He provided me with a great foundation and I am frequently inspired by that experience of learning about hip-hop from someone that was actually there.
New York was great and after honing my skills to razor sharp precision I made a move to Los Angeles. After grinding out in Los Angeles for a couple years and setting up Headshots Entertainment with my brother and partner Courtney Porter I met Prodigal Sunn from the mighty Sunz of Man/Wu Tang Clan. This “chance” meeting turned into a very productive and wonderful relationship in which I produced most of his debut album and co-A&R’d and co-Produced the project. We built a studio in downtown Los Angeles and are currently working on a few new music and television projects. Stay tuned family, this is just the beginning of my long journey.
