On August 20th 1979 Julio Geovanni Torres also known as Chi-King (aka Chi Chi Yeyo, aka DJ Puerto Rico) was born in Brooklyn, NY in Brookdale hospital. During his early teens he moved to Florida to make a better life and became a major instrument in the growth of underground Hip Hop in Orlando, FLAt 16 years old in 1996 he got his break with heavy sound production with a DJ Squad at Lucy Blues Café on Wednesday’s New York’s finest along side DJ Too Heavy, DJ Question and DJ Dewy.In 2000 Chi-King was released from prison and two weeks later was signed to an Indie label, Max-A-Million Records out of Orlando, FL. Bringing a new style New York mixed with dirty south and twist of Puerto Rican and Dominican MC.2001 Chi-King toured with the Max-A-Million All Stars. Opening up for acts such as; Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Angie Martinez, Mobb Depp, M.O.P., Lil John, Cuban Lynx, Ludacris and Black Rob. Max-A-Million was definitely a big stepping stone and a big part of his career.2002 The band went solo after the passing of his friend and C.E.O Big Will R.I.P. All the members are going hard for Big Will; everyone has established a label and or has a deal.In 2002 he moved to Las Vegas callabo venture with Bobby Farrari from ACDC and Mario (Carlos Santana’s producer).Creating songs such as Thugs of a Nation with the vice president of Warheadz Infared. While touring with the Warheadz Chi was introduced to 12 O’clock, general of the Brooklyn Zu. Through 12 O’clock Chi was introduced to the rest of the Brooklyn Zu family Rae Sunn, Shorty Shit Stain and Murdock. Since then they have been working together closely. Through 12 O’clock he met Prodigal Sunn (of Sunz of Man/Wu-Tang) and offered him a deal with GodzInc. Currently signed to GodzInc (Sunz of Man) and touring with artist such as; Killah Priest, Hell Raizer, Prodigal Sunn and Sixty Second Assassin.In order to reinvent himself he had to figure out everything that was missing. He created the Craz88z which is mainly a production squad with some of the hottest producers he’s come across such as; The Scientist, who also takes care of his graphics, video editing and special effects. The Scientist runs hopproductions.com which has over two million hits. Rich & Stingy a track with 12 O’clock and Chi- King, was rated one of the top ten hottest My Space songs for 2006. Other producers involved with the Craz88z include Phazewun, Structure they produced God Bless the Child and Love is Love on the Brooklyn Zu album. Nlz, producer/MC is another general of the Craz88z. We are also in production for the Lady88 which will consist of female production and MC squad.Chi-King was also on the A-n-R mix tape vol.1 & 2 featuring Royal Fam and Ancient Coinz. Chi hosted WU-CF weekend in Orlando, FL a weekend dedicated to Wu family with Prodigal Sunn, Capadonna and Brooklyn Zu.In 2006 Chi-King moved to California and hosted The Full Street Flush Tour at the Zin Sushi Lounge featuring Black Nights, West Coast Killa Beez, Brooklyn Zu and Prodigal Sunn.In 2006 he joined venture with jewelry hall a famer Brian Light of The Light family in order to create a television show named What’s Real. Chi hosted and interviewed many artists such as Rick Ross, Paul Wall, Khia, Young Jock, DJ Drama, Willy the Kid, Smitty, DJ Nasty and through that show Chi met Michael Winslow.2006 Dealing in all parts of the industry Chi landed a job as road manager/production manager with actor/comedian Michael Winslow. They toured the mid west and guest stared on all major radio in New York and Miami. They are featured on ebaumsworld.com which receives 1.5 million hits a day. He still does spot dates for Mr. Winslow through out the country.Also in 2006 Chi was featured on the Prodigal Sunn album The Return of the Prodigal Sunn on the track titled My Life ft. 12 O’clock, Madem D and Prodigal Sunn. He also appeared on Grinds DVD with BMX legend Rick Thorn.2006 Chi coordinated stage production with Brooklyn Zu for the star studded event on November 16th 2006 for the ODB Birthday Bash. Chi performed along side with the Brooklyn Zu and the whole family/ Killa Army/Shaheem,Poppa Wu and Free Murder.In 2007 Chi-King featured on the Leggazin Finn album released in Africa and the U.S on the track titled Afro Killa Beez with Baretta 9 of Klla Army, Prodigal Sunn of Sunz of Man and Leggazin Finn.
During 2007 Chi also became a merchandise manager and account manager for Dope Media handling merchandise for artist such as KRS ONE, GZA and RZA for the event We the People held in Watts, CA.Presently in 2007 Chi-King is up for the score of the film Fantastic 4 II through Uprising Entertainment. Through it all he is learning how to be a man, father and business man all at the same time. Talking to the children and showing love spreading his wisdom of the streets and helping to give Hip Hop a better look. Chi-King is not about violence. Chi-King is a child of the ghetto for the children of the ghetto.TODAY IS A GIFT THATS WHY WE CALL THIS..THE PRESENT.PEACE!!!!
