About Me

The Sticks are:
Poppy
Tom
Andy
James
Geo
We are The Sticks:
We are based in the Manchester area. We formed in July 2007 and began recording our first song ‘Make You Mine’ in August 2007. We put the song onto our MySpace and received plenty of comments saying how good it was. We began rehearsing nonstop for about 4 weeks and got a set of just 6 songs together to play our first gig to a packed pub in our hometown of Heywood in September 2007. Things have been getting better and better ever since. We have performed at:
The Castle
The Music Box
Jabez Clegg
MoHo Live
Night & Day
And various other top music venues in and around Greater Manchester.
In December 2007 we supported The Courteeners at The Ruby Lounge, Lost and Found Christmas party; we played to a packed venue of around 400 people! Then in February we played at the top of Beetham Tower. Thanks to a certain architect Mr Ian Simpson, we performed a full set to a small audience (including members of the press and Mr Clint Boon himself!) at the top of the highest residential building in Europe. We “topped” that by opening the massive Manchester versus Cancer 2008 at the MEN Arena! The Bill featured The Farm, Inspiral Carpets, Athlete, The View, Fun Loving Criminals, The Happy Mondays, The Fratellis, The Enemy and FreeBass featuring Peter Hook, Andy Rourke and Badly Drawn Boy!
Please feel free to add us and ask us any questions about our music. Spread the word and if you would like to get your hands on a demo please come down to a gig and we will be giving them out free of charge!
Thanks
The Sticks

Sounds Like:

David Sue - M.E.N:

“They keep the drama to their songs - raucous but dancefloor-friendly indie guitar anthems recalling early Arctic Monkeys.”

Clint Boon (about 'Make You Mine'):

“Love the sound keep up the good work...absolute class, sounds like a released record!!”

Alex McCann - Designer magazine:

“Must see band The Sticks headline our latest show, if you missed them at ITC get in now before they go massive”

Lisa Durrant - The Fly Magazine:

The Sticks - Make You Mine :

An instant classic, this song is sure to propel The Sticks to the mainstream of British music. Coming out of Manchester, The Sticks were only formed in July 2007 and already have a devoted following. The fantastic vocal pairing of Poppy and Tom Rush lifts The Sticks above the level of many British bands and will surely elevate them to the level that the band's talent deserves. An ep is due out shortly so keep an eye on their website for more information on that. I haven't heard such a new band able to produce 3 songs of such high quality in a long time. Check the others out on their myspace and then make sure you get a hold of the ep when it comes out, proof that you were there from the start, before they became the coolest band in Britain
