About Me

Current PortfolioWa Hey I'm back. I am a stencil artist from Manchester and I also do a bit of photography and when anyone is daft enough I play the odd record from time to time (Odd being the key word). So essentially I kind of make a living from colouring in and making a racket good eh. I have unfortunately been a bit elusive lately due to the fact that some kind soul (you know who you are & I am a big believer in karma) ripped off all my paintings and got other people to copy them. I know I couldn't believe it either they must of been well desperate. Anyway thats all come to an end and now I am free to do what I want to do instead of lining his pockets. So after nearly 2 years off I am back so look forward to seeing lots of new work, lots of exhibitions & lots of launch parties (usually my only chance to play the above said odd records) so stay tuned. One of the only things I have been doing in the last two years is producing several collections of paintings for the Great Northern Aid Trust who put on the Versus Cancer concerts there are some photographs below & some auctions & maybe exhibitions coming soon. Please feel free to have a look around and most feedback is appreciated if anything takes your fancy you can reach me via [email protected] Ta SimonAutographed paintings for Versus Cancer including Paul Weller, Ian Brown, Happy Mondays, Charlatans, Clint Boon, Peter Hook, Andy Rourke, Johnny Marr, The Enemy, The View, Fun Loving Criminals, Northside DJ's Tin Tin, Frank Sidebottom & many more coming up for auction later this year check them out at my top friends.I cut my first stencil when I was 15 it was of John Squire and I printed onto my friends bass guitar using acrylic paint, then that was it for around 16 years I had been to college and studied art & then completed hated painting, I think it was because of the conformity of the course and the restrictions that were given to what work I was able to produce. me and my teacher didn't exactly see eye to eye in a subject that he informed me I would never pass. So on came life I settled down got a proper job got married to my wife Angie and along came my son Thomas & then 3 years later Benjamin. There is something magical about children where by all your childhood hopes & dreams come back to you as you wonder of there future. I would never force ambition onto my children but would like to be able to help them if they wanted it. This is when I realised that the proper job was not what I wanted you wouldn't after all go to a restaraunt and make do with what the waiter brought you. So I decided to start painting again this came as bit of a shock to Angie as she never knew about any artistic interest within me. So to begin with I got brushes and emulsion the results were OK but not what I wanted so I picked up a scalpel and dug out the spray paint. I had been working for around 12 months when I decided to go to try & get hold of Ian Brown at the MEN Arena where he was playing that night as The Limo pulled up I turned my portrait of him around and we had a chat for a while and he requested a copy of his portrait and gave me his phone number. On my way back to the car I ran into my old art teacher who clocked my art folder under my arm and asked what I was up to I told him but I have to admit I bigged myself up a bit, then cooly enquired if he was still teaching & there it is the karma.
