Fine By Me
1999 - 2006
In March of 1999, four young Bay Area teens went into a drummers bedroom to play music. Six years later Fine By Me emerged with a new style of rock that has a range of labels, from indie-core to progressive pop. After playing at most venues in the bay area and winning regional Battle of the Band shows by 2004, the band trekked to LA to the stages of the Whisky A Go-Go and The Roxy. Their next album, soon to be released in 2006, is the first to feature the latest addition to the band, drummer Alex Curran, whose dedication and musical influences further developed the bands sound. As Fine By Me evolves, the group continues to ditch any restraints on its sound to create music thats tempting to the ears but caters to the desires of the musicians. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Bob Mathre, loves everything from Motown to Superdrag, and composes pop progressions that dig into the more intense sides of rock. His melodic chord structures support the lead guitar riffs played by Jeff Collins, whose influences include Weezer and Slash. Alex, who was an experienced jazz drummer before joining Fine By Me, is inspired by Led Zeppelin and Rage Against the Machine. Veronika is influenced by fusion and world music players, but she also loves artists like Bjrk and The Cure.Fine By Me performs intoxicating indie rock that even draws listeners whose preferences are completely outside of this genre. Whether the lyrics are about the intricate realities of life or a relationship break up, Fine By Me isnt afraid of being rough and gentle at the same time, inviting the listener to be part of the experience at live shows purely for the sake of a musical experience.
