About Me

Manuel Alonso began his musical studies at the National School of Music with Juan Carlos Laguna (UNAM, Mexico), there he concluded the Technical Professional degree in classical guitar. In 1998 he started to play flamenco music under the guidance of Ruben Diaz in Mexico. He has performed as a soloist and in flamenco, jazz and mexican music combos, offering concerts in Mexico, Europe and the Middle West. He has produced his own projects and he has also participated as a player and arranger in other discographic productions. Manuel Alonso has studied with Egberto Gismonti in Cordoba, Spain; he has taken other courses in improvisation, analysis and modern harmony as well. Today he lives in Barcelona where he´s studying piano with Eduardo Tancredi and with the guitar players Vicenç Solsona, Juan Ramon Caro, Juan Manuel Cañizares and Rafael Cañizares.
