A passion for music has been with him since childhood and he began playing the drums at an early age.Joaquin studied Afro Venezuelan percussion at Fundacion Biggot in Caracas, and explored drumset and Afro-Cuban instruments with various teachers in Venezuela. Later, he attended Boys Harbor in New York and, in 1998, he moved to Barcelona and studied at the Conservatory L'aula Jove de Musica Moderna y Jazz, where he later became a teacher until he moved to Amsterdam.While in Barcelona, Joaquin explored diverse musical styles playing with bands such as Flameland, Tambores de mi Pueblo, Kanabayen, Soma Raza, El cholo, Ass Trio, Pau Sastre and the Nu Niles.
