About Me

SHORT STORY :
we played in a band together and when it broke up, we decided to create some nu tunes. it takes some time, as we are busy with different things, but we love to slowly continue with this. we also do some remixing for other artists. if you like our music feel free to comment
LONGER STORY :
SPARK* are doing music for the pure joy of it, not facing a commercial way of what..s hip at the time and sell out. crap!
u gotta do what u think is good for your soul and your heart, not your wallet!
it might sound like we are another balkan / electronic act but - sorry we are not. with SPARK*, it..s about nice tunes and remixes exploring, hopefully not exploiting different musical cultures. u can also expect maghreb induced dub sounds or rural cuban jungle or asian breakbeat or.. BadRam has been diving more into cuban-haitian- brazil music in the last time whereas Shazam brings in a big portion of the eastern-asian -oriental elements. turning each other on to these things, sometimes they meet in between, say, moroccan Gnawa, Flamenco Jungle or Afro Beat with clave and qawwali harmonium. Spark are going at their own pace as bAdRams also produces eclectic stuff in america while Shazam is busy touring with Nomad Soundsystem in europe.
History:
When BadRam from NYC first dived into the Berlin underground club scene around 1999, he discovered a DJ/Sitar/Tabla live act called Chandra Pulse which consisted of DJ Shazam and two japanese guys Aki Ueda & Yuji Hiromoto (then called Tei) who studied indian classical music in Varanasi. bAdRam was turned on by this classical-electronic mixture and thru mutual friend MC Sufferah got in touch with Shazam and finally turned out in the line up of the new band Shazam was forming with MC Sufferah - CULTURE CLASH. ..rThese guys were doing a lot of spontaneaous global- drum & bass live gigs in Berlin & beyond without practising too much, but never failed to rock an audience. other members of Culture Clash were lebanese MC Massiw le Ghaza, cross-cultural percussionist Tayfun on percussion, David Beck from GNAWA IMPULSE on Guitar and Claas Sandbothe from ANOKHA / London on Drums. ..r after some unfinished demo recordings and too much pressure from within the band, they broke up in 2002 leading to different new projects like Global Riddims, Nomad SoundSystem or Spark*
we don..t like to be limited down to a few tags.
watch this space for nu tunes and releases every once in a while.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
