Erika Lieberman is a composer and musician with extensive experience creating music in modes ranging from symphonic orchestra to modern pop and ethnic folk styles. She performs regularly playing the Celtic harp, guitar, djembe, bodhran and Irish whistle with her early music consort Sweet Amaryllis, and has worked as a musical director and resident composer for various Shakespearean Theater companies.
Erika has contributed music to films and television shows such as Satan's Little Helper (2005), Till Death Do Us Part (2007) starring John Waters, and Inkheart (2008) starring Paul Bettany, Brendan Fraser and Helen Mirren. In April 2007, her score for the short film, That's My Majesty, was performed live at Lincoln Center in New York City. She is currently writing the score for Guiana 1838, an independent feature film about slavery in the British West Indies, which will be released on DVD this summer.
One of the strengths that sets Erika apart as a composer is her use of exotic instruments and folk styles and applying them to an orchestral or modern musical setting. She has developed relationships with musicians who play a range of exotic instruments such as sitar, serod, oud, tablas, Uillean pipes, concertina, dulcimer and water glasses. Her understanding of rare and ethnic instruments and the effects they produce, combine a unique blend of the esoteric to her music whether she's scoring a horror movie, a video game or a period film.
With her graduate studies in Music Technology and Film Scoring at New York University, Erika combines her musical performance and production background with a wealth of technical expertise. Her New York studio includes countless high-quality samples, as well as equipment to record supplemental live instruments.
