About Me

I dunno, what about me? I'm a dude who enjoys many things while there are also several things I do not enjoy. What else do you need?

My Interests

Many and varied, but the main reason this exists is to promote my zine Fish with Legs which is a humorous per zine and I think it kinda kicks ass if i do say so my self. Ask me about it and I'll give you the scoop.

I'd like to meet:

People with heads and brains and shit who can, like, think and talk and tell jokes and stuff. And who aren't, y'know, assholes and shit.

Music:

Music- Eels, Pavement/ Steven Malkmus, Social Distortion/ Mike Ness, the Ramones, White Stripes, NOFX, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, REM, Beastie Boys, RUN DMC, the Monkees, Johnny and the Scrotum Munchers, Dropkick Murphys, the Clash, the Minutemen, Grape Flavored Pussy Juice, Nirvana, James Kochalka Superstar, Operation Ivy, Pinhead Gunpowder... fuck me, I never had the hippest musical taste around and i always draw blanks when trying to make lists. I don't usually make bands up like I did here, though. You know what? After American Idiot I think I'm gonna give Green Day the honor of gracing this list. I used to think they were no better than the Blink 182s of the world, but they are in fact better than that.Anyone reading this list know of another bands I might dig? Because as much as I rack my brain I can't come up with any other bands I like enough to put on this list.

Movies:

Movies- I like movies, but I've never been a big movie guy in that I don't really watch and obsess over them and commit them to memory. The only movies I own on DVD are CLERKS, PULP FICTION, RESERVOIR DOGS and some movies I got for cheap. And PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE. I only paid $7 for it, but I would've paid more. But as I rang in the new year I was watching JACKASS NUMBER 2 so I guess that deserves mentioning. I also really liked the 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN and LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and combined with THE OFFICE I think this may make Steve Carrell my favorite current actor.

Television:

TV- Wrestling, Letterman, Daily Show, Colbert Report, South Park, Mythbusters, Heroes, Justice League Unlimited, most of the stuff on ADULT SWIN (except for those weird ass shows aimed at stoners), Simspons, Arrested Development, What's My Line?, Match Game, OZ on DVD, Mr. Show on DVD, Freaks and Geeks on DVD, The Boondocks... Rcently I picked up 2 SCTV box sets (one was 12.99, one was 19.99) and from what I've seen thus far that was an amazing show. it's a shame that SNL is the most popular skecth comedy show out there because it's for the most part it's pretty mediocre at best. And I can't believe I forgot to mention All In the Family which (for the Meathead years at least) was the best sit com ever. I also enjoy the US version of the Office (as well as the British version. I used to think the original was far superior to the new one, but now I think the 2 are more or less equal with the US version possibly being even better than the original.) I also dig My Name is Earl. And the Shield last season kicked so much ass it's not even funny. Also, Prison Break is kinda stupid but it also kinda kicks ass. Wonder Showzen is another fave of mine. I guess I should also throw in Leave it to Beaver and The Monkees which are 2 longtime faves of mine. Loved those shows as a kid and can still enjoy them today so I guess that's worth a damn.Oh wait, I forgot, TV is evil and I never watch it.

Books:

Books- Watchmen/ anything by Alan Moore, anything by Bukowski, SEX DRUGS AND COCOA PUFFS by Chuck something or other, OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE by Michael Azzerad, PALOMAR by Gilbert Hernandez, LOCAS by Jaime Hernandez, BLUE BLOOD by Edward Conlon, (I feel like I oughta edit this list a little because it's just me listing books I had recently read at the time I was filling out the profile. But I still like all these books so I'll keep them and add on PLEASE KILL ME and THE OTHER HOLLYWOOD by Legs McNeil, JARHEAD by Anthony Swofford and THE BEST OF THE SPIRIT by Will Eisner) and lots o' zines by lots o' people who are better writers than any of these dip shits you see in any bookstores- BURN COLLECTOR, URBAN HERMITT, XTRA TUFF, COMETBUS... just a few examples of writing better than anything you'll see in any mainstream book. For that matter I just read DOUBLE DUCE by Aaron Cometbus which is basicially a reformated version of an issue of COMETBUS, but it's still really good. Expect this section to be altered as I read more because I tend to read a lot. Like right now, I'm reading A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE US by Howard Zinn which is a must read if you live in this bloody country (I brag like I've read he whole thing cover to cover even though I'm only a little past the Civil War even though I bought it almost a year ago.) I also recently read HELL'S ANGELS by Hunter S. Thompson which was pretty good, though not great. I could only make it halfway through FEAR & LOATHING... before getting bored, but maybe I'll give it another shot. And for zines I just read MURDER CAN BE FUN ..19 and loved it. I gotta order some more zines. I have a huge back log I've yet to read, but I need more. I'm a junky, man. I've also been reading DORIS- THE ANTHOLOGY which is compilation of the first 18 (?) issues of the zine and that's fucking awesome. So is FOUND MAGAZINE. I've also been digging 100 BULLETS by Azzerello and Risso and pretty much anything Grant Morrison does is worth reading though I'm partial to ANIMAL MAN and DOOM PATROL. I should also give MULTITUDE OF VOICES a shout out just because he mentions FISH WITH LEGS in his myspace profile. The most recent MOV was amazing though I'm not even sure it's still available so you might be shit out of luck. By that same token I should also mention SYNDICATE PRODUCT/ LOW HUG because she mentions me too and also publishes one of my favorite zines even though there hasn't been a new issue in a while. And as I read this I can't believe I forgot to mention CRAIG KINGSBURY'S TALKIN' which was one of my favorite zines ever. And if you get an itchin' to read any wrestling autobiographies you oughta start with Mick Foley's books, then read Dynamite Kid's, Terry Funk's, Ric Flair's, and Superstar Billy Graham's. The rest you can skip.I'm also reading the autobiography of Motley Crue- I don't much care for the band, but the book promises to be full of sex, drugs, and rock & roll and you can't go wrong with that. Something about the whole rock & roll lifestyle appeals to me. Speaking of which, you all oughta read THE PORNOGRAPHIC FLABBERGASTED EMUS by Wred Fright. Not only because it's an enteraining book, but the back cover features a quote my yours truly. The big man himself. El grande jefe. King shit of Fuck Mountain. I may never write a book, but being quoted on the cover is pretty cool. And right now I'm reading A HEARTBREAKING WORK OF STAGGERING GENIUS by Dave Eggers. Ironically enough the company that published EMUS was actually funded in part due to the fact that they were disgusted with guys like David Eggers getting grants to write or some such shit. All I know is it's a good book.Good lord, there's something to be said for just listing the damn books and getting out as opposed to blathering on like I do here...

Heroes:

Heroes- Bill Hicks, Jack Kirby, David Letterman, Joey Ramone, Dee Dee Ramone, Jim Henson, Judge Wapner, ... fucking heroes... they want us to list out "heroes" but what they really want is for us to list various entertainers whose work has impacted our lives in some way. Fire fighters are heroes, cops can be heroes, but some dude who tells jokes or plays a guitar ain't no fuckin' hero. But if we are going to make a mockery of the term "hero" I may as well add Mick Foley to the list. And the dude I saw scraping a dead possum off of the road. Anyone with a job that shitty deserves to be somebody's hero. And why did I leave Johnny Ramone off the list? True I didn't agree with his politics, but I hate to think that's what inspired me to leave him off. He certainly belongs up there with his "brothers" because none of them would have been jack shit w/o the others.
