I'm what the kids call a "zinester". Which is to say, I've been publishing a zine called Meniscus on an irregular schedule since April of 1998. That led me to contribute to some other folks' zines along the way, and I have been a reviewer and illustrator on the last fourteen issues of Xerography Debt , an underground press review zine published out of Maryland. It's an awesome gig! It doesn't pay anything, but I get to read lots of cool stuff for free.
For the past few years, I've also been working on a series of comics called Love , which is a story about a couple of cool gay guys. It's a little reactionary, because I created the comic as an alternative to all the really annoying comics I kept finding ... really annoying comics about really annoying gay people. My gay people are way better.
The Love comics are now scores and scores of pages, in which main characters Jack and Pokie have created a brave new world with a bold new flavor! Their awesome adventures have been collected into an incredible 192-page book by Zero Cabinet Publishing , and we had a book release party and everything!
I have also been known to draw comics about super-powered, crimefighting butlers.
You can check out my gallery on storm artists if you want. This space will have images from recent as well as ongoing projects, and images too hot for MySpace!
And here is my entry on ZineWiki , which is a WikiPedia-like database all about zines and zinesters. I'm trying to get it up to date right now, but it already has almost all of my stuff on there.
In real life, I am the movie guy at Brainstorm. I live in Chicago, because that is where my store lives.
