For close to 10 years I have been active in the disability rights movement educating and speaking about the importance of accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Having worked for some well known non-profit organizations within Los Angeles, I quickly learned how to network with and influence the leaders in the disability community, government officials, and major corporations. Because I have the soul and spirit of an ambitious entrepreneur I understand the importance of making a profit and the bottomline. Having both perspectives allowed me to bridge the gap between the disability and business community...the ability to communicate each side's message in a non-threatening manner.
Last year after recovering from walking pnuemonia, I decided to take that leap of faith and start my own consulting company. I was fortunate to have wonderful mentors over the years that taught me how to be an influential leader, build a strong team, and the art of networking. Are you wondering what exactly it is I can share?
I teach non-profit organizations how to effectively network (or outreach) and build community alliances with other non-profits or businesses. For the business community I educate them on disability rights law, how to protect their bottomline so they can make their business more accessible to customers with disabilities (i.e., hopefully how not to get sued). My natural gift of gab and bubbly humor helps to keep my audience awake especially when I talk about disability rights laws =?

In my spare time I volunteer in the community by serving as the chairperson of the Pasadena Mayor's Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities as well as the chairperson of the Board of Directors for Asian Rehabilitation Services, Inc. For the past two years I have been a Senior Examiner for the California Award for Performance Excellence, which is a Baldrige based performance excellence business model.
In the past, I have received accolades for my work in the community by the Legal Aid Association of California Award of Merit 2005 and honored as one of the Women Achievers of 2003 by Business Life Magazine.If I can help you, your organization or business - send me an email either via MYSPACE or [email protected]
