I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

When I play Monopoly, I like to be the shoe. I've never learned how to blow a bubble while chewing gum. When I eat saltine crackers I prefer them "salt-side down." I think THIS is the funniest thing ever.

My Interests

Typical stuff: movies, music, computers, hanging with friends, etc. Why do I feel like I just answered this question exactly like a 14-year old would? I do have a newly found interest in working-out. Is that better? Nope... a 14-year old would have said that too.

Music:

Elliott Smith, Sloan, Badly Drawn Boy, Ben Folds Five (but not Ben Folds quite so much), The Shins, The Decemberists, Spoon, Girls in Hawaii, Glen Hansard/The Frames, Pilotdrift, Dr. Dog and many more!

Movies:

O' Brother, Where Art Thou?; Raising Arizona (anything by the Coen Brothers); Once; Dogma (the entire Kevin Smith catalog); Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; Tommy Boy; Office Space; Tombstone; any zombie movie- the list is too extensive. I can go from mindless comedy to foreign and independent. I just like movies, okay?

Television:

I've got to have my stories! Actually, I almost never watch TV. Even shows I really really like I watch about 2-3 times, and then I miss a couple episodes and never catch back up. That's why I stick with movies. They're self-contained, and fairly explanatory. UPDATE: Thank God for DVR. My favorite shows are all on Showtime: Dexter, Californication, Weeds, etc.

Books:

You'd think having a B.A. in Literature, I'd read all the time. I guess I got my fill back in college. I read about a book a year now. And it hurts.

Were going to need a bigger bus

Welcome to this week's CTA drama. There certainly doesn't seem to be a shortage! I really should thank the CTA. If it wasn't for them, my life would probably otherwise be boring and uneventful. I'd ...

Proposed new slogan for Target

"Target. We have nothing you need, and everything you don't."You know what I'm talking about! I would never dis Target. For some reason, people are rabidly loyal, even though Wal-Mart is better. But ...

Gotta cut footloose

The day actually started out well. My work-load was fairly light, and because of the time change (I'm assuming), the day seemed to go by kind of quick. Adding to the bonus, my boss is out on vacatio...

A behind-the-scenes peek into advertising

My favorite Superbowl spot

This one. I think it's simple, effective and funny. It didn't rely solely on major special effects or a high budget (as so many do these days) to hit on a very real fear and how the product can solv...

I love the smell of lip balm in the morning

There seems to be a common element in a lot of my blog entries: The CTA. Ah yes, the good old Chicago Transit Authority. That shining paragon of mass transportation, whisking people swiftly to their p...
