Yiorgos Kaloudis is a modern cello player who uses his personal technique and different timbres of the instrument to produce a post modern, nu-jazz/ambient/alternate cellistic environment.
On February of 2005 "DNA LAB_L records" released his debut solo CD album "Truth". (www.kaloudis.info)
He was born in 1973 in Athens, Greece, and was raised in a music family.
His love for the cello inspired him to attend the "Athenaeum Conservatoire" in Athens, where he received a Diploma under the instruction of cellist Claire Demeulenaere.
The scholarship from the "Fulbright Foundation" granted him the chance to develop his personal technique on the instrument and to study composition, arrangement and improvisation under the guidance of Ted Greene and James Mahlis in Los Angeles. Upon his arrival, "Faros" post-modern jazz/world duet established with saxophonist D.Lynch.
Yiorgos Kaloudis is based in Athens Greece. As a creative performing musician in the art scene of improvisation, he’s performing his own compositions as a solo artist, as a duet with Ruth Hill on the kanun, as much as a trio with the bassist Sylvan Richardson.
He performs as a cellist but also as a multi instrumentalist (4 string Cretan Lyra, guitar, cajon, udu, tabla, drums, percussion, electric bass-"cello tuning", vocals, mandolin, ancient Greek harp, calimba).
He’s also collaborating with some of the most well known greek composers and artists such as Alkinoos Ioannidis, David Lynch, Stavros Lantsias, Takis Farazis, Yiotis Kiourtzoglou, Elli Paspala, Socrates Malamas, Faros duet, Camvas band, Furtuna group, and the Music Ensemble of M.Hadjidakis.

Sounds Like: Concert
A live concert of the “TRUTH” cd.
A “Cellistic Forest” environment is being created by Yiorgos Kaloudis through his compositions and the Live-Loop-Recording technique during the concert which he’s performing it at the same time and during his playing.
The compositions have jazz elements and modern western harmony which is being created with the use of cello and only.
