Ancestra was started in March 2005 by singer/guitarist Josh Allwein, and ex-guitarist Chris Swartwood. The band name comes from Chris's street where some of the first songs were written. Shortly after, Josh's best friend Mike Alway decided to join the band as the bass player, and Russell Graves joined as the drummer. Chris left the
band a few months later.
The band decided to keep the name anyway because of the growing popularity. Josh spent months trying to get another guitarist because no one wanted to play thier style of music. Josh was working at Pac Sun at the time and offerd the positions to about 50 random people who looked like they played guitar. He eventualy found Tim Perry who joined the band in July 2005, and Robert Williams who joined in September 2005.
The band finally started to play shows in December 2005 and basically blew up over night. However musical differences slowly started to eat away at the band. They played shows for almost a year straight and decided to call it quits in October 2006.
...Until now...
In October 2007, the band decided to get back together, with a few minor changes. Currently the band is a four-piece with original members Josh, Mike, Russell, and newly added guitaist/vocalist
Kyrt (also in The Hazel Branch).
Keep your eyes open because this band will blow you away
in every style and genre.
