So now that my "Official" bio is outta the way let me really tell you what I'm about. Music has alwaysconsumed the majority of my time since I can remember. Trying to make a career out of it has beensimultaneously the most exciting and frustrating thing I have ever pursued. Music caught my attention forall the obvious reasons, however it was the band's or artist's power of expression that really captivated me.I found that I could better express my thoughts and feeling more through music than any other medium, and Ibelieve a lot of other musicians feel this way as well.
I started playing guitar in high school (Grade 9) and started writing and singing soon after. A few yearslater I started playing keyboard, drums and writing my own beats in music programs. I didn't have a lot ofmoney so I had to become the one man band. Once I started to get a little more serious I put together astudio in my basement...yeah I know you know about the basement studio, don't act like you don't have one, orat least at one point had one! From there I learned about mixing and the PAINSTAKING task of mastering on mytime between shifts at a Windsor plastics factory...I was there 5 years too long, but made some good friendsalong the way...if your a half-serious musician, you know what I'm taking about with the mastering. If youhave the money, you might just wanna leave that one up to the mastering engineer!
I've had too many influences to mention here, but I will say that my style has changed drastically over theyears. At some point I stopped trying to be my influences however and became my own artist. I think that'swhere a lot of artists miss it; they try to be and sound like their influences so much that they end uplosing their creativity and individuality. We don't need another Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix or Tupac...Theworld has already had them. People need to realize how important individuality is. One of my favouritequotes is "You laugh at me because I'm different, but I laugh at you because your all the same."
I like and write so many different type of music that one of my major challenges has been coming up with acollection of songs that can all go on the same CD. When your putting out an album there is a fine line youhave to walk between diversity and collectiveness. So that's what I'm workin' on right now. My debut album"Now I feel alive" will showcase my diversity, but at the same time, I'm not going to show you everything Ican do at once...Gotta have more than one album right? Since some people are askingalready, yes I write both my music and lyrics myself. I create all the beats myself and I also play all thelive instruments if there are any (I play guitar, bass, keyboard and drums).
Music influence people like you wouldn't believe. Everyone has a world view, and of coarse I have minewhether you agree with it or not. I'm a God fearing man, and don't try to hide it. Like many others, I have avoice that I want heard. I have a message that I want contemplated. I have a story to tell, and at the sametime, I want to entertain. Yes, I want to make money from my music, but not just because I want to makemoney, but because I want to spend my life doing what I love. Don't you? I've spent enough time in thefactories of Windsor, and now I'm giving everything I got.
