Word to the matriarch its release mania at RTM as we move into a spring sized bustle moving from our habitual corner-dairy level of activity up to a fully industrial park size release schedule for the end of the year. First up SJD guitarist and all round wunderkid James Duncan has blessed us with the Mirror Minor EP.Hes a busy chappie, launching the delightful duo Punches through the wonderful compardres at Arch Hill. (Mr Duncan has been made aware of possible exile to Wellington and compulsory enrollment in jazz school if he should join any more top rocking combos.)
Them thar five tunes that make up Mirror Minor will be familiar to the lucky throngs who have checked the Duncanospheric live shenanigans but now they sound crisp enough to wilt a trailerload of fresh lettuce. Shes a moody wee beastie of an EP sliding from neatly noodling gatmospherics to Air-esque hospitalized vocoder variations, cheeky electro assignations and all sorts of plain old indescribable goodness. Whats more theres the fabulous and felinoscopic video for Do U? thrown in for good measure and the covers looking pretty phwoar! too. Its one of those youve got to hear it kind of scenarios and you will be able to, from November 4th 2005- by buying it from any vendor of fine repute through that vital vessel of impeccably crucial selections Flavour Distribution, and dont get postupedic on it - this is a single pressing, miss it and weep, limited edition kerffuffle. ding the charge is the sneaky and addictive Desert Playground where acoustic guitar and strings meets digitally strangulated vocals and the timeless wonder of excess electronic wibbleyness. Its primed, and ready to wrap its warped charms around the b-Net playlists - as our minimal release schedule demonstrates we dont do any sub-par gear on Round Trip Mars and this is a sneak up on you and get under your skin stone cold classic, believe!St Jim
