My little corner of the world....

About Me

Here's a little description that I did that assists people in getting some basic info about me. Feel free to skim if it's too much. (Maybe I'll qualify for a biographical piece someday and that lucky soul will have half the work done already!) :-).........The Hamiltons came from Scotland to America in the 1600's, having been heirs to the English throne that had to flee. (They liked to eliminate the competition back then.) There is a whole story surrounding their escape and there are elements of the story contained in the family crest. My branch of the Hamilton's became farmers in the valleys of Kentucky and my grandfather was a mechanic/farmer(The other one was a milkman). My mother and father were the first of their respective families to ever go to college. (Blue collar roots) I was born in Lousiville, Kentucky and my parents separated when I was 3. My real name is Charles, but I go by Chase. My mother gave me that nickname because A) The people who were named Charles always abbreviated their name by writing CHAS and B) As a child I was always running around, and she would have to "Chase" me down. My father stayed in Lousiville and my mother remarried, landing us in a small town called Crawfordville. As I said it was a small town and I have many small town stories of growing up. I didn't really fit in well with the people there, I think because I had a more metropolitan mindset, but I still enjoyed the time.I was (And still am) extremely restless living there. I loved the beaches, which were only a few miles away. I used to walk them at midnight and at dawn, finding the view beautiful, but knowing that it was not enough. When I graduated from high school, I signed up for a six year contract with the US army. I asked for duty in Europe, but was assigned to stations inside the US.(Very disappointing) The military had many good lessons and helped me in my youth to become more disciplined, but I can't say that I really enjoyed it. The army did not offer enough room for real intellectual and emotional growth, or at least not the kind that I was looking for. It is nice for people who need lots of direction in their lives. I spent time at several bases in Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Virginia. When I completed my duty, I came back to Tallahasse to go to school at Florida State. For some reason, possibly that I wasn't emotionally ready, this was not easy for me. I refused to get loans and burden myself with debt, so I worked full time as a short order cook and went to school full time. My grades were mediocre, but I worked hard and got as far as I could til the money ran out. "Diligentia maximum etiam mediocris ingeni subsidium" (How's that for a good quote?Know what it means?) :-) During this time, I also gave up cooking and began working for Blockbuster in the bottom position in the store, Customer Service Representative. I began working my way up, while finishing school, and after only a year, I was promoted to store manager.(An unusual thing, but I seemed to have a great talent for it) I also (It's a long explanation) moved to Jacksonville, FL, and continued to work with Blockbuster. I lived there for a year and lived ON the beach. (Quite nice) After spending time there developing my skills, I moved here to Atlanta because I wanted to be a part of a large city and felt like I had a mission here. During this, and after six years with Blockbuster, I also gained the promotion to District Leader. Also an unusually short period of time, through this talent I seemed to possess. So here I am! My Interests

Travel: My mission has been to max out my vacation time this year and make sure that I FINALLY start traveling to fun places. :-) I've been to the Bahamas at the beginning of the year Las Vegas in August, and San Francisco last month. I enjoyed all the trips, but I had sooo much fun in San Francisco. I stayed in the Haight-Ashbury area, made the Napa valley wine tasting run(Francis Coppola's vineyard kicks butt especially for a movie buff! www.niebaum-coppola.com ), saw the fisherman's wharf/Chinatown area(skipped Alcatraz), experienced the night life (Check out www.rubyskye.com, www.nightclubaura.com, www.mighty119.com, and www.clubsix1.com), and went to an all day festival in Golden Gate Park (www.powertothepeaceful.com). I have my passport and I am really itching to hit Europe next year! London? Paris? Rome? Berlin? Prague?
