The Mortis bio:
I started out in martial arts at the age of 4, when I got into gymnastics. My mother wanted to get me into something active, so I picked that. I stayed with it for 2 years, until I decided I rather do Tae Kwon Do at the age of 6. Two years later, I began Judo classes as well. I continued to take Tae Kwon Do for 10 years until I received my 2nd degree black belt, and Judo for 8 years until I received my 1st degree black belt, when I stopped doing both at the age of 16. I have also taken Kempo Karate and Aikido.
I started to actively get into music sometime in high school when me, and 3 of my friends started a speed/thrash metal band called Scythe, heavily influenced by Overkill, Megadeth, and Dream Theatre. We played together and messed around for about 3 years (1998 - 2000), and played one show in a friend's basement.
In 2000, I started an online radio station from mp3.com called Sickfilled Noise Radio, where I played music from little known bands at the time, like Lacuna Coil, Inkubus Sukkubus, Howling Syn, The Kovenant, and many more.
In 2001, I moved to Cleveland, where I joined a band called Lost Soul. We later changed the name to Nocturnal Solace . I was with them for almost a year, made a demo, got on a compilation album called "On the Dark Side: Dark & Heavy," and played many shows with some great bands like Mushroomhead, Dying Fetus, Somnus, and many others. I left the band citing differences at the time, and moved back to Kansas City. They are still playing out and have played with Mushroomhead again, and Arch Enemy since I left the band.
After leavin the band, I moved back to Kansas City where I began Akido at the age of 20, which about a year until my teacher moved away.
In 2005, I decided to promote bands that I like on the internet for fun and started up a promotions company called Sick Noise Promotions, and later changed the name to Morticore Entertainment . Then, I started to get requests from bands that were planning on coming to Kansas City and needed help getting shows. I got a couple of them booked, and was later asked to be the manager of the now defunkt Obsidian Empire , whom I met the year prior at a party. I am also currently involved with a new band called Unholy Breed , which I formed with my brother.
I am now involved in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and got married to my beautiful Mydnight on Sunday, October 14, 2007.
Though, I am heavily into music and MMA, I am also involved in many other hobbies and activities. I'm a big gamer as well. My first gaming system was the Atari 2600 when I was 3, but I fell in love with video games when I recieved my Nintendo Entertainment System when I was 7. I later got a Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo until I discovered PC Gaming in the early-mid 90's. Games like Warcraft II, Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, Diablo, Duke Nukem 3D, and Multiplayer Battletech took up most of my time and brought me into online gaming.
Top 5 Upcoming PC Games:
1) World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
2) Left 4 Dead
3) Duke Nukem 3D
4) Prototype
5) *NEW Untitled Blizzard MMO* (TBA)
