IMDB.com is bullying producers in the film industry that comply with their own rules and therefore should be boycotted. The information presented on their website is not always accurate since they take up to 6 (SIX) weeks to update information supplied by producers. On the contrary, Hollywood Reporter says "in Hollywood nothing remains the same and that's why we update daily".
Dante's Inferno and Dante's Purgatorio, two of the best movies ever in film history, currently in Pre-Production, were removed from imdb.com WITHOUT imdb.com offering any warning whatsoever. What's even worse is that their answer to the producer's complaint was completely unprofessional, unsustained and totally biased, supporting someone or a group that wants to SABOTAGE such an incredible project.
Furthermore, IMDB forums are much to be desired. They are completely UNmonitored and visitors just put all sort of junk information that should not be there.
What can we do about this? These are some suggestions:
1) Do NOT use the website.
2) If you are a film producer, submit your film to Variety Magazine and join Hollywood Reporter . They do not only provide online information, but also printed magazines distributed worldwide and many languages.
3) Post bulletins on MySpace about joining this website and say why.
4) Join the mailing list on www.boycottimdb.com to keep informed.
5) If you are a PRO member of IMDB.com, UNSUBSCRIBE and join Hollywood Reporter , a better and more reliable website.
6) Support this crusade! Consider making a website to compete with imdb.com. A multilingual software for this purpose is provided for free HERE . We need a free, ad supported website, that will embrace the world of film business, not just one of Hollywood that sells out to the powers that be. One that has forums monitored by producers or their assistances.
7) Use your power now and put us on your main MySpace page profile so others can help spread the word.
8) Send us emails with your suggestions.
