About Me

Education, then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of man, - the balance-wheel of the social machinery. - Horace Mann

I am an advocate for education. I believe that, with the reevaluation, redevelopment and the right administration to implement the policies, education will do what it was suppose to do; empower society as a whole, not just the privileged or the student.

The other day, while hanging out with people I barely met, I realized that I am very out of touch with what is going on in fashion, entertainment, and pop culture. I am not sure if my lack of knowledge in these areas make me naive or ignorant; but it sure does enable me to free up some time and room in my mind to think about other issues like social, economic and political issues.

My Interests

Academics, family, friends, motorsports, bike riding in Holland, riding the metro to LA, trips, food, being a beach bum, religion, people, urban settings, shaking my bootay, and last but not least...hugging my dog Fester and my nephew Owen! My nephew Owen!

I'd like to meet:

I will tell you who I DONT want to meet. A person who "ranks" people by their skin color, ethnicity, age, social class, education, profession, weight, height, the car they drive, the clothes they wear, the school they went to, and last but not least, their religion. No matter what you believe in, EVERYTHING IS TEMPORARY IN THIS WORLD. Everyone is equal!!! When it all comes to an end, appearance, money and possession will not matter. I too have been caught up in this "rat race" and found myself "ranking" people....that is why I know why EVERYONE does it. Remember, there is no such thing as SUPERIORITY COMPLEX....only INFERIORITY COMPLEX. Thanks for reading.

Music:

In my car right now....Buddy Holly, 2pac, Bob Marley, Talib Kweli, Beastie Boys, Dead Prez, Three 6 mafia, KRS-ONE, BizMarkie, Screwed and Chopped by D.J. Spoiler's "Least Known Unknown", NWA, Too Short, Mac Dre, UGK and last but not least...the Beatles.

Movies:

I like to play. I don't like to sit indoors for hours while the world outside is passing me by. here are some movies that have influenced me.......the godfather, 6th sense, annie, grease, sound of music, american history x, life is beautiful, american graffiti, blood in blood out, american me, roman holiday, truman show, the sandlot, bloodsport, shining through, back to the future 1 2 3, Indiana Jones 3(Crusades), amelie, chocolat, mi familia, wizard of oz.

Television:

TV amuses us....do you know what AMUSE means? Better off, do you know what MUSE means? Muse is when you are in the state of meditation, thought or something that inspires you. For example, MUSEum...when you go, hopefully, the exhibits should inspire you...make you think. AMUSE is the opposite of MUSE. Just like AMUSEment park...we like to go because we really dont need to think when we are there...this is what TV does to you. If that doesnt stop you, I'm sure the contents in TV will...a lot of crap. How about the NEWS?? a lot of crap too. I guess if you want to really know what is going on, you have to look for it yourself...sad but true! As for MTV...dont even get me started.

Books:

Frog and Toad are Friends, Judy Blume books, The Godfather, Da Vinci Code, Memoirs of a Geisha, Black Power by Kwame Ture, To live and die in LA, Tuesdays with Morrie, Robert Frost poems. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Who Rules America? by Domhoff, Inequality, Power and Developement by Jerry Kloby, The star-entangled banner:one hundred years of America in the Philippines by Sharon Delmendo, Contracting colonialism:translation and Christian conversion in Tagalog society under early Spanish by Vicente L. Rafael.
