Beliefs
I really believe in being heard. Being quiet will get you no where. Honesty, loyalty, and living by the golden rule makes life all that much better. Being strong & independent will give a woman the ability to anything she puts her mind to. You don't need a man, but they're nice to have around!
Loves & Likes
I love my friends, drifting with the ladies of drifting pretty, working on my car with my girlfriends, happily representing my car sponsors, shopping, seeing new places, going out to eat, hosting parties, meeting new people, traveling, talking to drifting fans, going drifting, and most of all spending time with the two most important people in my life...Benson & Kristy. I love the color pink, being hapa, being nisei, japanese food, the sound of my turbo spooling up, taking pictures, being a scorpio, in&out, applesauce, umeboshi, strawberries, tropical starburst, girls' night out, okaka onigiri, plain m&m's, Yokohama ES 100's, laguna beach, work mesh, kg2, boba, cherry blossoms, nice sponsors, organizing, coach, tiffany & co, blitz, roxy, gp sports, and being left-handed.
Thoughts on Drifting...
Recently drifting has gained vast popularity here in the states. If you know me at all you know that for the past few years my life has increasingly been consumed by drifting. I've been drifting for almost three years, between my boyfriend and I we have 5 240SX's. You can say we're drifting freaks.
I've been involved in drifting since it started here in the states and have seen it grown tremendously. I founded the first ever woman drifting program in the world...The Drifting Pretty Program. We're well into our third year and I'm proud to say that over 30 women have graced the program in thus far. I was the first woman drifter to be sponsored by a major tire company, Yokohama. And well what can I say, I Love Drifting! So of course I have my thoughts & advice on drifting.
I drift because its fun, not because I want to be famous. I don't judge people on their skills, I see them for who they are as people. Its not easy being sponsored. You can forget how many sponsors you have, but never forget how big of a responsibility it is to keep them and maintain the relationships and of course, represent them.
No-No's in Drifting
People that do it for attention or to promote themselves and really have no love for drifting. Drivers that blame everything but themselves. Drivers that just can't be happy because they're too busy comparing themselves to you.
My advice
Just shut-up and drive! Don't worry about me...worry about yourself! Don't drift thinking that youll get rich off of it because you won't. Think positively when you're drifting and above all, as Kumakubo says..."Drift with your smile."
Myths
She gets sponsored because she's a woman.
No. I get sponsored because I work hard to represent my sponsors and set a good example for women in drifting. Things don't come easy, so work it and get out there!
She sucks because she doesn't drive D1
I drive in the events I can afford to drive in. If I had the backing to be able to smash my car into the wall and have it fixed the next week then I'd be at D1.
She's drama.
That's right I am. Just as all women are!!!
She's a good driver
Every event is a learning experience. I've been drifting for over 3 years and racing for over 5. I have a lot of experience but still have a lot to learn!! So I may be a good driver now, but with time and experience I'll get even better.
Love and Relationships
I don't believe in second chances, I gave my ex 6 of those second chances and not once did he change. You can't teach a dog new tricks...and you can't teach a backing stabbing friend new tricks either.
Whatever happens, it happens for a reason and fate made sure of it. You can't go looking for love. Love changes you. Love makes you a better person. Love is something that I've finally found, after years of not-so-great relationships, its blessed me and I've found the love of my life...he was hiding...in a Nissan 240SX!!! MUAH. I Love You Ben.
