Where to start? All this...interrogation. I can't take the pressure! ;-) I am interested in Middle Eastern Dance (bellydance, raks, oriental dance, whatever you wanna call it), Hatha Yoga (suddenly and recently, yoga has become interesting), Chain Mail (I make the best!), PUMPKINS, clubbing, making fun out of whatever I happen to be doing at the moment, surfing (I wanna learn how), abusing my children...doh! I meant raising...really, and a whole metric ass-load of other stuff I don't feel like writing down. Incidentally, a metric ass-load is exactly a lot.
Me...but I suppose you'll do. ;-) I enjoy meeting new people, provided they have a smidge of intelligence (okay...more than a smidge...a lot more), a metric ass-load of humor, and mostly enjoy life. If there is something a little weird (yet not creepy) about you, so much the better!
I find something I like in almost every genre...*almost.* I am partial to goth/industrial/ebm/trance, middle eastern, bhangra, alternative 80's, punk, and a bunch of other stuff, too. Some well loved artists, in no particular order: Psychedelic Furs, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Hossam Ramzy, Massive Attack, And One, Dead Kennedys, Skinny Puppy, Scissor Sisters, New Order, Ministry, Richard Thompson (Yeah, that old guy from England), Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Dead Can Dance, Peter Murphy, David Bowie, Serefe, Love and Rockets, Tones On Tail, Skot, The Cramps, Wave In Head, Nitzer Ebb, Einsturzende Neubauten, Beborn Beton, George Abdo, Talvin Singh, Bigod 20, Haujobb, Jethro Tull, BT, Front 242, Meg Lee Chin, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Aphex Twin, The Clash, Big Audio Dynamite, Fleetwood Mac, Falco, Bassnectar, Iggy Pop, The Siren Project, Juno Reactor, Voltaire, Oingo Boingo, Fiction 8, The Pogues, Dead Milkmen, and on, and on, and on, forever...amen!
A few I like in no particular order: Drop Dead Fred, Tank Girl, Silence of the Lambs, Amadeus, 29 Palms, Donnie Darko, Alien, 2001 A Space Oddessy, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, 24 Hour Party People, The Bird Cage, Life is Beautiful, Harold and Maude (of course!), and a million others I can't think of at the moment.
With the exception of the rare PBS binge, none
I love to read. I love too many books, and have too little patience to list them.
I honestly don't know who I would call one of my heroes. I don't idolize people, I suppose, because they all bleed red if you poke them with a sharp stick. (They usually say ow, too.) As far as accomplishments go, I think everyone is capable of great things. Most of us are just too lazy to do them. I think Mother Theresa was great, for instance, but I don't want to be like her when I grow up...it's not in my personal composition. I'm just not an altruist. That doesn't mean I am entirely selfish, but rather I recognize that most of the "selfless" things I do inherently benefit me in some way. I admire Emperor Frederik lll of Austria (15th century) for being a brilliant tactician and revolutionizing the way wars were fought. I wouldn't consider him a hero. Einstein was freaking brilliant, as was George Gamow (who is buried in my cemetery) and Leonardo Da Vinci. I still wouldn't consider them heroes. Wait...I know who my hero is...She is a single mom who busts her ass all day long at work, and comes home with love for her kids, even when she's furious. She silently, and namelessly ensures absolutely every need is met, while she teaches them to be really decent human beings. She isn't perfect, but she puts her level best into everything in her life. Sometimes, she makes bad choices and sometimes her choices seem inspired. Sometimes, she is really happy and sometimes she is fatally sad or enraged...even bitter. She usually puts her wants on the back burner, but occasionally brings them out to play...and sometimes will even fulfill one. That is my hero. (Reading all that was a total waste of your time, you know that, don't you?)
