BALKAN YOUTH FESTIVAL “THE BALKAN YOUTHâ€, Sandanski, Bulgaria.
BYF is the biggest international youth event in South-East Europe and every year it is organized by youngsters. The main goal of the BYF is: to assist young people from Bulgaria, and the Balkan and European states in the achievement of their aspirations to get to know each other, to exchange information, to expand the network of contacts in various fields related to their interests and problems, skills, and opportunities for participation and collaboration.
The Balkan Youth Festival has set itself the following FESTIVAL EVENTS:
- Festival Defile;
- Festival Concerts – participants are: individual pop-rock performers, rock groups, modern dancing performenrs, folk ensembles and groups from Bulgaria and from abroad. The different performers will show their talent on three stages – “Main festival stageâ€, “Stade fot traditional arts†and Rock stage “YES – Youth European Sound!â€. NEW
- Festival Competitions:
The Best Pop Singer Competition;
The Most Attractive Festival Couple Competition;
Special Festival Moments Photography Competition “All different, but not indifferentâ€, open to every participant and guest of the festival.
- Youth Balkan Party;
- Stage for Contemporary Street Art – participants are: break and hip-hop dancers, juggling groups, graffiti and action painters, etc…
- Exhibition with art works from Bulgarian and foreign painters;
- Youth Forum: Round table “PARTNERSHIP NOW AND FOR THE FUTUREâ€.
In the 13th BYF, which will take place from 10th to 15th September 2008 in Sandanski, are invited young people and youth groups from all the Balkan and many European countries, which makes about 1 000 participants, 400 of which are from abroad.
In 2008 the truck of the European campaign "For Diversity. Against Discrimination." will visit 10 countries from the EU. In Bulgaria its stop will be in Sandanski on 11th September during the BYF, where the participants in the festival, citizens and guests of the town will have the opportunity to take part in a game on diversity, karaoke competition, park on mobility, painting a giant fresco, performances of singers, musicians and more.
