My name Is Jimmy Adcock and I play guitar in the Dallas, Tx. Original Rock band, RadioKing.

RadioKing showcases our Original Music in the style of Avenged Sevenfold, Guns' N' Roses, Stone Temple Pilots and other guitar oriented Rock bands of the past and present. We are currently finishing up the recording of our debut CD with our new Singer, Rus Chaney and the CD should be available by the end of the year.
Aside from RadioKing, which is my First Love having played with them for close to 12 years now, I am also in three other projects which help keep me busy playing and expanding my musical goals and horizons and also offers the chance to play with other great musicians and friends around the area.

The Texas Surfers is a side project that allows me to play some of my instrumental guitar tunes that are on my 17 song cd, SIZZLE TO YOUR SOUL that I recorded a few years ago and also alows me to sing and jam on some choice covers of many of my heros such as Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, Hendrix and more.
I also perform in two of the Premier Tribute Bands in the Dallas Area, the Judas Priest Tribute band
And the Pat Benatar Tribute,
Judas Rising features one of my great friends that I meet on the Guitar War web-site several years ago, Tim Aandahl (AKA PRSRox). If your a Priest fan AND a fan of Extreme Musicianship, you should come to a show. Imagine if Judas Priest were played by the legendary Shred band of the late 80's, Racer X (featuring the Terrifying guitar duo of Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bouillet) and you'll get the idea!
Fire & Ice is a great tribute to the 80's era of Pat Benatar and a lot of fun. It gives me a chance to play in styles and tones that I don't do that much. If your a Benatar fan, this is the show to see. Total 80's retro type vibe. Her guitarist / husband, Neil Gerardo has some great and tasteful playing.
Keep an eye on my Calendar below to see where and when I'll be playing and with whom if you are interested.
As far as other personal info about me, I'm pretty laid back and easy going and I eat, sleep and breathe Guitar 24 / 7.
Along with playing with the above Bands, I also own and operate a Music School in Arlington, Texas called Arlington School of Music.

We offer private music instruction in almost all instruments and styles of music. I currently have an enrollment of over 150 students. I love teaching guitar as much as I do playing it because I'm always working on learning something new and becoming a better player and helping others do the same is just as exciting to me.
I started playing guitar just before I turned 17 after being inspired by the guitar solo in the music video of Funky Town by the Ausse 80's rock/pop band, Pseudo Echo. I had never thought about playing the guitar before that moment but something about Brian Canhams solo just stuck me the right way and I suddenly had to get a guitar and learn to play it. Not even knowing the route to go to get a decent instrument at that time, I thumbed thru the Sears catalog and found one just like (well, it looked just like) the one that Brian of Pseudo Echo played. Only problem was his was a cream colored FENDER Stratocaster and the one in the Catalog was a cream coloered HARMONY guitar that was surely made out of a pine tree or press board or something in between!!! haha It was only $100 so I saved my money from my first job and bought it and an amp and proceded down to the local music store to sign up for lessons. My instructor was Terry Humphries (now of the local Dallas band VOODOO WITNESS) and the firs tthing he told me was that I HAD to get rid of that guitar and get a real one that stayed in tune! Terry actually wrote me a note to get me out of school one day and took me down to Oak Cliff to a place called Eugenes Guitars (damn, I miss that place!) where Stevie Ray Vaughan used to wheel and deal and helped me pick out my first Decent Guitar, a Schecter Strat. Soon after this I saw the movie Crossroads (the Ralph Machio / Steve Vai movie - not the Brittany Spears one!) and was then hooked and have not put the guitar down since.
I Have since gotten a degree in Music Performance and have been very Lucky to have studied with some great and knowledgable players over the years including Master Classes with Sweep Picking Monster and Theory Genius, Frank Gambale as well as former Steely Dan Guitarist Steve Kahn, both at the National Guitar Summer Workshop back in the early 90's.
I also studied with New York Guitar great Jeff McErlain at the same time who turned me on to many of the fusion and jazz greats that became major influences for me in the years following and was the first to really give me insight into Jazz Theory and the use and importance of Modes and Arpeggios in improvising.
I have also studied privately with Dallas Jazz greats Chris Derose and Joe Lee as well as Jazz and Country Legend Clint Strong who I was lucky enough to have teach at my school for a few years after he came off the road with Merle Haggard.
I've had other private one off lessons and sit downs with Living Color's Vernon Reid following a Living Color concert in Dallas about 10 years ago...One of the coolest experiences ever!....Ft. Worth Blues great and Buddy Texas Tornado, Rollo Smith; Shrpnel Recording artist Scott Stine; Instrumental Guitar great Jason Macedo;
And the coolest Musical Experience of my life...a one on one sit down and Jam session with one of my biggest Heros from the time I picked up the instrument...former Megadeth Lead Guitarist Chris Poland!!
Pics of that meeting back in the Winter of '04 are below as is a full account of how that came to happen are in my Blog!
Another cool experience came a few years ago when i got an out of the blue e-mail from Brian Canham, the guitarist mentioned above of Pseudo Echo thanking me for mentioning him on my bands web-site as my first Guitar Hero / Influence. We traded several e-mails and he was cool enough to answer a lot of my questions about his guitars, gear and influences. Would love to meet him someday and thank him personally!
Thats pretty much sums me up in a nutshell. If you have any Guitar related questions...feel free to e mail me and Ask...I'm always up for talking shop and any and everything related to Guitars!
Getting to Open for George Lynch, one of my first Guitar Heros was an Awesome experience!!
