Casey Cook has been a musician all of his life. His parents were professional bluegrass musicians, touring the country when Casey was just three years old. Along side his brother Matt, Casey played mandolin and guitar and sang for his parents’ band, logging hundreds of miles and festivals before he turned five. At the age of four Casey recorded his first album with their band, Special Cooking. He was then inducted into the Florida Country Music hall of fame as the youngest touring bluegrass musician to perform and record professionally. Through his adolescent years he continued to travel and perform with his father and brother embracing a vast variety of projects. When Casey was eighteen he left home and started his own bluegrass band in southern GA called Stop Look and Listen, a traditional bluegrass band showcasing tight harmonies and fast instrumentals. In 1999 with the help of his friend Micheal Smith, Casey moved to Atlanta, GA and formed The Dappled Grays. This new configuration focused on traditional music and acoustic jazz as well as original work. After releasing their first studio project In the Gait, The Dappled Grays were given the coveted title of Atlanta’s Best Bluegrass Band by Creative Loafing Magazine. In the Gait was engineered by Grammy Award© winning engineer, Bill Vorndick. Casey was soon featured in the nationally distributed publication, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, and had his original work published before he was 21. Throughout the years he has been an active studio musician in Atlanta playing on bluegrass, gospel, and country albums. Always filling his time playing professionally, in 2002 Casey joined Silver Dollar City’s, Stone Mountain Park as a full time entertainer, performing and headlining work shops for thousands of people every week. He was also in charge of scoring and arranging the company’s music for seasonal shows, such as the “Go Tell It OnThe Mountain†production for Christmas of 2002 and 2003. The park has continued to use Casey’s arrangements over the years. When not touring he keeps a full time schedule of Students and has been teaching for five years. Always trying to further his experience in 2002 he also joined the Andy Carlson Band out of Granville Ohio. Since joining them the group has released two studio projects. Through the years Casey has shared the stage and taught along side some of the greatest acts in the business such as Ricky Scaggs, The Del McCoury Band, David Greer, Mountain Heart, and Clare Lynch just to name a few.
