The Protocol is back with a diverse sophomore full length released on artist-friendly upstart label Parlor Records titled “Recessâ€. Aptly named for its double entendre, the album is a journey through the indie pop, pop punk and pop rock genres. The Protocol hails from Seattle, Washington and, drawing from its Seattle-influenced sound, The Protocol indeed clicks "with just one click!" "Recess" bookends with the dreamy guitar riff laden "The Words You Didn't Say" and "You and I." Jeff Reitan is recognized as one of the best guitars players around, and his playing throughout the album does not disappoint. "Recess" quickly diverts to pop following the opener and you will find yourself singing along to "Barcelona" and the rambunctious "Entry Fee", culminating in the hilarious "Click", in which charismatic frontman Rob Leinbach pokes fun at Internet sex surfers whose endeavors make them feel "manly like chopping wood." The album then turns serious in the ode "My Alyosha", in which Rob's deceased father is likened to the purity of Dostoevsky's famous character from The Brothers Karamazov, followed by lamentations of today's terrorist world ("Killer"), evangelical egoism ("Cannibal") and environmental apathy ("You and I").The Protocol’s music was featured by Helly Hansen in their ski team videos. The Protocol performed at the NEMO music festival in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006 as well as headlining Seattle’s top venues such as The Crocodile. The Protocol is Rob Leinbach (voices), Jeff Reitan (strings), Chuck Pinnell (drums) and Darren Patt (lows).
The Protocol's CD twenty four is also in stores at Sonic Boom on Seattle's Capitol Hill, Freemont, and Ballard. Also at Easy Street Records on QueenAnne.
The Protocol also partnered up with entertainment lawyer Steve Sessa (Muse, The Ataris) to handle manager/label inquiries. We would not have gotten this far without your support and energy you bring to our live shows. Thank you so much.
