About Me

Hi I'm Lou and am in my 30's - blimey, that makes me sound grown up - don't worry, I'm not!! Hahaha!! I have spent half my life thinking that my 30th year on this planet would be a good one - and it was!! I have an absolutely gorgeous daughter called Jade who, like me, is really into music, especially rock!!!!!!! All genres too, from the wave your hands in the air and scream like a 12 yr old pop punk of Blink 182, to the head thrashing sweaty craziness of Trivium! And all thats inbetween, spesh punk and, more recently, industrial. I also adore hearing up n coming or less commercial bands, so if anyone wants to recommend any or is part of one, please let me know! I spent 6 years working for a bank but got made redundant as its offices are closing. Don't mind tho, where else can you get paid to LEAVE?!?!? I am now at RNIB and LOVE it!!! I'm really into spiritulism, and do Tarot card readings for people quite often. Have also been told I have "healing hands" and should look into crystal healing, so watch out for news on that front! Maybe that should be my new career, but where the hell do you go to learn that?! Doubt P'boro college do a course! I'm a complete night bird n would rather stay up to watch the sunrise than get up early to see it. I also find the best talks happen at night, the ones where you sit with someone and really discuss opinions, find out stuff about each other and just really have those amazing conversations you can only have in the dead of night when all is quiet n sleeping. I have recently seen the movies Zeitgeist and Loose change 2nd edition (see Google Movies) and now feel even more strongly about the corruption and war going on in the world, feel its time we, as the people of this amazing world, should take an interest and take a stand!! We cannot stand by and watch any longer, surely? Ok, time to get off the soapbox, sorry for the little outburst there, Hahaha! Talking of watching uncomfortable things, I have recently seen some horrific animal cruelty films and have become Vegetarian - also I have discovered Mars Confectionary still test on animals?!?! Please Boycott them if you have any heart!!! I would love to travel, so far only made it to Wales and Portugal - however I DON'T like "doing" the tourist things and I don't think you should go abroad to lay on a beach, drink beer and then eat english food! To me the idea of going abroad is to see and experience different cultures! I am startin to take up art again, after having had a break for a bit too long, so may end up posting a few paintings or such like on here someday for you to peruse - Altho I do the usual art of portraits etc I tend to veer more towards a surrealist approach, like the wonderful Dali! So, if you share any interests, or even if you don't, drop us a request and see how interesting our conversations can get! Preferably ones that go off on obscure tangents and incorporate everything from Sunday Morning hangovers and dodgy haircuts to Alien lifeforms and death by.......(fill in your own word!)

My Interests

MUSIC!!! (hence majority of my friends list being bands, local, up n comin and well known!) Reading, spiriualism, sketching, chatting (more like waffling actually - I get off on LONG conversations!) times with friends and family. Going to gigs! The environment (anyone else even a tiny bit worried about whats happening?!) and the world in general, such as the politics and ethics. Learning new things, whether that be something small like my daughter and I with our guitars and our Guitar Playing for Dummies book (!HAHAHA!) or something major like how to stop the corruption and killing of our planet, so if you wanna share some knowledge with me then please do so!

I'd like to meet:

Anyone with something interesting, witty, intellectual or totally surreal to say! And of course, I'd happily meet the usual sexy boys that grace my CD rack!

Music:

Oh SO many!! NIN, Lostprophets, Anti-Flag, Taking Back Sunday, Fair to Midland, Avenged Sevenfold, Misfits, Biffy Clyro, Papa Roach, Bullet for my Valentine, Rancid, Rise Against, AFI, The Blackout, In Flames, Feeder, System of a Down, Tool, Mars Volta, Alexisonfire, Atreyu, Alice Cooper, HIM, Stone Sour, Green Day, Trivium, Metallica, Billy Talent, Dashboard Confessional, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Blink 182, The White Stripes and loads of K bands! (Kaiser Chiefs, the Kooks, Kasabian, the Killers, the Klaxons, Kings of Leon!) And I've even been known to appreciate the odd Cradle of Filth tune! Also love older stuff like The Clash, The Jam, The Doors and stuff inbetween, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins etc. I also love all the '90's Dance music, such as Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and all the old DJ stuff such as Seb Fontaine etc. All harks back to my mad raving days before Jade! Oh and I love Britpop, Pulp n Blur were ace!!!!

Movies:

None spring to mind as faves, but other than comedies, which everyone loves (plus there are FAR too many to list!), I really enjoy Sci-Fi thrillers/Horrors i.e. Event Horizon, Alien, The Matrix, Donnie Darko etc I also like comic book types such as Spiderman, X-men, Superman etc. Darn it, I sound like such a NERD!!! and also Fantasy types such as Labyrinth (first ever crush was David Bowie in that film - hmmm a man in tights n make-up! *sigh* - Hahah Sorry, the Emo in me is showing :P), The Lost Boys (my next crush - Vampires!) Eragon, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter (only cos of my daughter, of course!! Ahem!) And of course the usual of Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, American History X, The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption. But NO "Proper" Horrors, (except for the FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC old Hammer Horrors n old B-movie types of old) like Nightmare on Elm Street or SAW etc, they're just gross and a bit too close to home for comfort. With Sci-Fi at least I can think, I'm never going into space so it won't happen to me!! Actually thats a lie - I reckon I'd be braver if I didn't have to go to bed alone after watching it - Hahah, I'm such a girl!!! I also adore documentaries that teach me about the world we live in, such as the Al Gore film An Inconvenient Truth, or Zeitgeist - Now they are true Horror films!!!!

Television:

Lots of music TV and anything funny! i.e. Nevermind the Buzzcocks (spesh with Simon Amstell, v funny), 8 out of 10 cats, Simpsons, Friends, My name is Earl, Mock the Week, QI, Father Ted, Green Wing, Scrubs, Family Guy, Peepshow etc etc plus any stand up really! But I'm open to all sorts - except Soaps! Yawn. Sorry, soap lovers! Oh how could I forget, I Love HEROES, It rocks! And Dr Who, which is and always has been (and hopefully always will be) just plain awesome. I also find myself sat with Jade watching stuff on the Discovery channels about Egypt, or myths and the such like.

Books:

Stephen King and Den Koontz are my fave - love the whole good battling evil kind of thing! I also read reference books (well actually since getting my comp tend to read ref things online now! :S), boring as that sounds, but as I said I like learning! However, I will read anything if someone recommends it to me - so recommend away, people!

Heroes:

My Daughter! Vomit inducing I know, but she's so witty and clever it amazes me that she's mine. Also my bestest ever mate Steph, she's a fantastic friend to me and mummy to her kids, she inspires me to be better.
