THE OFFICIAL 'DOUBLE STEEL' MYSPACE

About Me

Double Steel is a hard rock/heavy metal band based on the Sunshine coast (Queensland, Australia).
At the beginning of 2003, twin brothers Stephen and Michael Steel form the band, DOUBLE STEEL.Flashback to the dark ages of 1993, Mick starts learning guitar and for reasons unknown Steve begins what will become two short years (or two long years, depending on who you ask!) of piano lessons.
1995 see's Steve make the transition from the piano to drums (from Chopin to caveman!) This now allows a creative musical freedom between the boys, as their lack of musical theory had hindered previous attempts at jamming together. A few years later the boys encourage one of their friends to take up bass guitar. Occasional band rehearsals follow and they play their first gig at the annual school fair. At this time Steve and Micks influences were not set in stone. Oasis, Silverchair and various radio-friendly songs held moderate appeal. As a result, the lads own original songs reflected these styles.
Everything changed when they first heard Metallica's relatively new 'Reload' album. The three-chord drop tuned sludge that had made up the majority of their own songs now seemed redundant in comparison. This was to be a critical changing point as Steve and Mick now focused on producing a cleaner, heavier musical approach. During the last three years of high school their thirst for all things metal quickly led to a discovery of other influential albums such as Guns n' Roses 'Appetite for destruction' and Motley Crue's 'Dr. feelgood'.
In 2003, now having been out of school for some months, Steve and Mick decided that after twelve years of conformity it was time to cultivate more "rock friendly" barnets. Also in this year a band name that reflected their new musical direction was chosen (Double Steel). From this time onwards the guys work on honing their playing and song writing skills and when possible audition a number of potential candidates for the band. Steve and Mick are currently writing & recording new material, searching for band members and looking for inspiration. (Not necessarily in that order!)
Double Steel's present aim is to find like minded people to become band members. Anybody with similar musical influences and competent musicianship are most welcome!
