About Me

1)I AM YOUR TYPICAL PO-MO HOMO with a twist of deconstructionist. I think I should come up with a drink concoction. I'll look into that! THE PO-MO HOMO. Anyone wanna help on this one? I need some spice, some tang, some sweet and sharp and nothing smooth. We found it! Thanks to N. - Vanilla Vodka, Chambord, Cranberry Juice and Pineapple Juice...YUM!2)So as you all know, I am a college professor with a penchant for the subversive. I am also a budding documentary filmmaker...at least that is what I tell myself. I have been working on a project that follows my friend Keith Price, who is a co-host on Sirius Radio on Out Q in the morning. The main thrust of the film documentary is the political implications of Keith's work as it relates to lack of positive representations of minorites in the media. Along with several commentators, we draw on Keith's experience to illustrate obvious disparities in contemporary culture drawing moreover on contemporary shows that echo similar sentiments, such as Noah's Arc. Here is our first review:OUT IMPACT -by Bambi Weavil
The Ebony Chunky Love WebsiteCHECK OUT MY EBONY CHUNKY LOVE OFFICIAL SITE TO GET UPDATES ON FILM SCREENINGS. You can follow the antics of KiKi and Mr. T on our movie site!
3)I have enough angst for everyone on this site! ;-)4)Y'all also know that I have a strong love for travel and feel like I have many places I call home 'cause home(L.A. cough cough hack hack) is not really home. *My friends are my home*. Definitely a HALLMARK MOMENT in that statement(gag!)You are allowed to slap me if you ever get a greeting card with that sentiment.5)Furthermore, many of you know that I have a very dark sense of humor and for the most part I deal with adversity with a positive, ironic gait. My first realization of that inherent sense of irony was in Junior High when I was forced into Catholic school and then confirmation. I was supposed to choose a confirmation name out of Catholic hagiography. I chose St. Lawrence. The nuns found it a bit odd that I would chose a saint whose death involved improv...When being burned on a grid iron, Lawrence complained that he needed to be turned over because he was getting overdone on one side. My favorite memory was that many of the girls picked saints, which mind you, they scarcely emulated. Imagine the short skirts and images of pious women embroidered or ironed on their stoles. Moreover, the boys all seemed to pick these heroic types in heroic poses. Too bad they didn't have football or baseball during christianity's early years. It would have been funny to see "The Saints" on the stoles. That would have made very appropriate images for the mentality of these guys. I was the sole male who had instruments of torture embroidered on his stole. 6) I seem to get a "You're terrible Muriel" thrown at me once a week.7)I can't get enough of what the world has to offer and I am grateful for cinema, 'cause there are places I know I will never have the occasion to visit even though my list is very long. I am grateful for all of you who contribute to my "Must See" list.8) Silly trivia: I identify sooooo much with Nathalie Portman's character in Garden State. I occasionally do my own original moment.9) I like to be romantic and pathetic in that role..hehe, but I also have a great sense of humor about myself and my life. The documentary has effected a strong transformation in me. It has made me more discerning about a great many things but has also reiterated to me the wealth that I bring to the world even though I am just a lowly college prof. I have a great love for the world and the people in it. This can be a double edge sword for me but I am truly excited at meeting new people and engaging them in their life's stories.Got a great book to recommend? Let me know! Heaven knows there isn't a shortage of ideas. I'm first to admit to being a nerd, but someone's got to be. People make fun of smart people who get excited by ideas. We live in a country afraid to engage ideas. We have thrown eggshells where they don't need to be. That attitude has put the current administration in office. NERDS of the world unite and take over! YOU NEED US OR YOU WOULDN'T BE LIVING THE LIVES YOU DO RIGHT NOW! My friend in Bahrain has prompted me to blog...lallorona.torelore.com. That has been a chore, but I do keep notes and at some point a full narrative will come out to describe the times I am silent. It is generally a page with my musings, generally observations about many things that I find amusing, offensive or plunge me into philosophical meditations. It is a nerdy idea, but I realized how it can be a fun tool to communicate. After the death of four of my friends in under two years, one as recent as December, I found that missives are a great way to cope. It is also a cheap way to share and to keep in touch!!! Yeah blogs. That and my job keeps me really busy. (yeah yeah more excuses). Thanks for engaging me in life's dialogue. I know blogs have become redundant in the internet age but I hated keeping journals and I like sharing my news with those who are far away from Seattle 'cause I am slow with e-mails or get caught up with work. Thank goodness for those long holidays!Lately, I have been revisiting music from my L.A teen experience. The L.A. punk and pop music scene had an affect on where I am today. As anything, I am a work in progress. (God! How New Age!)

My Interests

Theatre, Québec, Québec, Québec...Music. I like getting into lots of trouble and then documenting it. On my death bed, those documents will haunt me.....but I won't regret it. I watch lots of movies. LOTS. I need IMBD to even keep track of what I've seen. Sometimes I feel like I have lived many lives over. Life is short and to waste a breath is sinful."I came like Water, and like Wind I go."- Omar KhayyamOther things that are of interest: Social justice groups namely those who deal with sexual minorites. I am kind of a closet anthropologist. I enjoy observing people in their milieus. Unfortunately, I end up with that writer sensibility where I want to disappear from the world. Only put me out in the world to do what I do best and BANG! It is a rather strange contradiction.
