About Me

I was once told that I am "an enigma wrapped in a mystery all tied up with a pretty pink bow" and I think that suits me perfectly. I like to consider myself a simple soul but when it comes down to it, I am simply complicated. "I have found that the art of simplicity simply means making peace with your complexity." -India Arie
I like fizzy water and flat soda. I do not usually like sweet or sugary things. I detest foot apparel and I look dumb in hats...in fact the least amount of clothes possible is best.
I find laughter even in the most unusual situations. I cry easily but I find no shame in it. Being sensitive does not mean I am weak...awareness is just sometimes overwhelming.
I admire passion- passion in voice, in work, in life, in love for themselves, others, and the earth.
I crave human connections, whether it's waving and greeting strangers, making a new friend, or charting new territory in an old relationship.
I am juxtaposition embodied...young and old, wise and niave, skeptical and trusting, fun and serious, moody and happy, meek and strong.
At times, I am the most indecisive person I know...I will buy four kinds of cereal and six different salad dressings. But mostly, I know exactly what it is I want, even if it's not what I get.
I'm a wannabe hippie who makes her own soy milk, tofu and falafel. Mmm...falafel.
I am an organized mess, a pretty conundrum.
I graduated college...hmm, so now what? I graduated in three years with two majors so I think I deserve some time off since I cheated myself out of a fourth year of the college lifestyle (though I was hardly the stereotypical college kid) and practically killed myself trying to get out alive. Maybe I'll return to get my Masters', maybe I'll go to law school....perhaps I'll do both.
For now, I am enjoying experiencing life. I try to make ends meet while I do what I can to be a productive member of society. I make jewelery (and paint when I can). And oh yeah, I do that drag thing every now and again. :) Visit Out Impact's website by clicking below!

Old friends. New Friends. Red friends. Blue friends.

Daydreamers, writers, poets, dog-lovers, queers and queer-friendlies, beatniks, artists, hippies, coffee drinkers, tea sippers, drama-frees, music enthusiasts, theatre junkies, any lucky bastard that loves their job (fingersnaps if that job is selfless and/or courageous), riot girls and warrior women, drag performers, gamers, cachers, and activists- anyone fighting for a cause, not causing a fight.

People who want to share a little of themselves and leave an imprint everywhere they go.
People who aren't afraid to be themselves in the face of adversity.
Someone who can hold a conversation.
Someone who likes to do things like go to the batting cages, then go to an art musuem and a wine tasting all in the same day.
Someone who can teach me to solve a Rubix cube.
People who believe in taking naps.
People with culture, class, ambition, intelligence.
Someone who colors in the lines but doodles in the margins.
Someone who can impress me or is impressed by me.
People with a little faith and a whole lot of tenderness.
People who are positive and altruistic.
People who didn't just have to look up the word "altruistic".

I like to dance to hip-hop! You can't handle this!

Movies:

Rounders, Brokeback Mountain, Monster-in-Law, Closer, The Story of Us, Love and Basketball, The Notebook, Girl Interrupted, The Virgin Suicides, Beaches, Fried Green Tomatoes, The War, A Perfect World, If These Walls Could Talk 2, Firefox, Better Than Chocolate...many many more...

Television:

I don't really follow any shows religiously except the L Word and usually Nip/Tuck. When I can catch them, I like LINGO and I've Got a Secret on GSN, ER, Law & Order, BBC America...particularly Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and the American version Hell's Kitchen, Grey's Anatomy, Judging Amy, poker games, Family Guy, Futurama, ATHF, and the Simpsons...whatever I feel like.

Books:

"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library." -Jorge Luis Borges I adore reading...I will read almost anything once. And if I like it, I will read it twice. This book changed my life. No, that's too cliche. This book AFFIRMED my life! "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff...and It's All Small Stuff" by Dr. Richard Carlson. Awesome little handbook on positive thinking and taking control of your life, highly recommended. I moderate a book club, please let me know if you have suggestions for books!

Heroes:

As far as role models, or people I admire, I would say anyone left out there who believes in continual personal cerebral fulfillment, not indulgence. Thinkers, motivators, people who love and respect themselves too much to become someone else's infringed version of themselves. "In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love." - Mother Teresa.
