About Me

A Taurus/Leo rising, New Romantic Hippie Goth gal armed with small black cat, passport and classic Roxy Music records.
There, that's all you need to know.

My Interests

...music, tea, New York City, Great Britain, travelling, cooking, photography, media research and production, Internet, Lush products, animals, my insane little cat, true friends, vanity, living in Manhattan, reading, walking, Wicca, velvet, loyalty...
"I don't like much, really, do I? But what I do like, I love with a passion."
- Pet Shop Boys -

I'd like to meet:

If we know each other, please do say hello.
If you are a friend of a friend and we have met, that works too.
For the most part, I only add people I know and artists I choose on my own. It's not personal, it's just what works for me. If you think we have something to talk about, do write and introduce yourself.

Music:

I've always been a music geek and probably always will be. I was the kid walking around with the transistor radio pressed to her ear, I was the kid with the cassette recorder making "mixed tapes" for her friends in the second grade. You remember her, right? (...see, back then when you got made fun of at school, much as you may have daydreamed about it, you didn't go and shoot up your classmates, you went home and wrote bad poetry and listened to your music and that was that.)
I don't care who perfoms a song or what genre it may or may not fall under. If I like it, I like it and I don't make excuses for it.
Here's a vague list of what may be playing in my world at any given time:
...Adam and the Ants, The Alarm, The Mission, Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, The Bongos, Richard Barone, Blondie, Duran Duran, Hazel O'Connor, Patti Smith, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Qntal, Pet Shop Boys, Ultravox, Heaven 17, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bow Wow Wow, early U2, The Danse Society, APB, Soft Cell, The Jam, The Style Council, The Cranes, Simple Minds, Culture Club, Clan of Xymox, ABC, Visage, Japan, David Sylvian, Spandau Ballet, The Human League, early (early) Ministry, Propaganda, X, Kate Bush, The KLF, Secession, Tori Amos, Saint Etienne, Loreena McKennitt, Brian Eno, Mediaeval Baebes, Covenant, Deine Lakaien, Delerium, Sisters of Mercy, Gene Loves Jezebel, Inkubus Sukkubus, The Editors, Screaming for Emily, Goldfrapp, The Faint, Franz Ferdinand, Berlin, The Bolshoi, White Rose Movement, Radio 4, Peter Murphy, The B-52s, The New York Dolls, Suzanne Vega, Kirsty MacColl, Gang of 4, Enigma, Concrete Blonde, Sinead O'Connor plus T-Rex, The Manhattan Transfer, John Lennon, Basia, Stevie Nicks, The Doors, Cheap Trick, George Benson, The Mamas and the Papas, Sade, Styx, Pat Benatar, The Jackson 5, The Spinners, The Stylistics, Stevie Wonder, ABBA, Electric Light Orchestra, Barry Manilow (yep), The Cars, Steely Dan, Judas Priest, Chic, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, The Beatles...
"When you're moving in the positive, your destination is the brightest star."

Movies:

The Shining was the scariest movie ever, Desperately Seeking Susan the most charming and under-appreciated.
I tend not to find anything violent very entertaining. What seems moderately violent to most people will probably be too violent for me.
I *heart* Netflix.
...Love Actually, White Oleander, the Harry Potter series, Brimstone and Treacle, any Muppet films before Jim Henson passed away, City of Angels, Bend it Like Beckham, The Goodbye Girl, Saturday Night Fever, Super Size Me, Run Lola Run, Frantic, East Is East, Mind the Gap, The first two Austin Powers, The first two Christopher Reeve Superman movies, Happenstance, He Loves Me; He Loves Me Not, Dirty Pretty Things, Misery, Derek Jarman's Jubilee, Splash, 50 First Dates, Rocky Horror, Last Holiday, Magnolia, Boys Don't Cry...

Television:

I'd rather listen to music or play online than watch TV, but occasionally it is a nice distraction. I am quite smitten with VH1 Classic and I do love Bands Reunited. I'll always watch it if I see it, even if it's a band I never listened to, like Vixen. I have a newfound respect for Kajagoogoo after watching their episode!
I like silly old shows like Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, All in the Family, Good Times, Maude, The Munsters and Bewitched. Honestly, most of what is on these days I find unwatchable.
I love Sex and the City. I've probably seen "A Woman's Right to Shoes" more than any other episode.
..Twilight Zone..My So Called Life..Frasier..Keeping Up Appearances..Secrets of New York on nyctv..
I have a lifelong fascination with early, pre-Elmo, Sesame Street episodes. Come talk to me about Jim Henson any time.

Books:

I'll read anything if you put it down in front of me. When I was a kid, I used to like to flip through the phonebook, you know, just to see what all those pages in the front said and who was first and who was last--that sort of thing. Kind of nerdy, but I'd probably do the same thing today.
Currently reading: A bunch of new age hoo-ha. If you really need to know what that entails, just ask.

Heroes:

Adam Ant. Mike Peters. Oprah Winfrey. Those who march to the beat of their own drummer. Anyone who succeeds when the odds are stacked against them. Anyone who follows their heart and has the courage to chase their dreams.
"Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live."

For all who are curious, this "top friends" thing feels a little too much like picking teams for gym and I decided some time ago not to do it. If you need to know where you stand with me, just a...
